Wolverine is for those "We need a clear path from here to there, go nuts" type of situations. Ashley is the weapons lady. If we need a sniper or demolitions, we call her. And we know Sarah Lyons knows how to put teams together, start settlements, protect groups et al., so that kind of knowledge would be vital in starting a new settlement in a post-zombie apocalypse world.

My team would be a squad of Adeptus Astartes. After I convince them I worship the Emperor. They would be five the first would have a heavy bolter. The second would have a plasma pistol, and power sword. The third would have a typical bolter. The fourth would be a Librarian, and the fifth would be an Apothecary. I would stay out of their way with my piddly weapons and and watch their backs. Not as though they need to be watched.

The beautiful thing is that Wolverine can't be infected. He's immune to any kind of infection or contagion. Period.
