At 16 I would only date someone within 2 years of my age, mostly because it is a completely different life style outside of that range. At my current age (28) I would go from 22 - 32

In my opinion, the only reason age matters is legal repercussions. Given that I'm currently 20, the lowest would be 18 and the highest would be like...not dead? Of course, this is assuming a romantic relationship as opposed to a sexual relationship which I would be opposed to getting involved in.

At that point, I would only be with someone who could have been/is in high school with me. At my current age (22) I would probably only go within five years of my age, except below, which I'd only go as low as 18.

About five years plus or minus either way, preferably the woman being slightly younger than I.

Actually, I take that back. If I were sixteen, I would go up to 21, but wouldn't go any lower than 15. I just understood what the question was.

I wouldn't go 21 if I was sixteen. There are laws and I wouldn't want to get someone in trouble for the age gap without adulthood.

This person speaks what I can only assume to be the one stance of the reasonable person.

That 21 year old is either very immature or a fucking creep.

Or both.

As for me? I didn't date around 16. Not that I didn't try... but I'm kind of glad I didn't. My first real relationship was at 19, my first INTENSE relationship was at 21. I feel like if I was 16/18 respectively, it would have ended badly.

I also wouldn't have dated a 21 year old girl at age 16.

Because that is fucking creepy.

On average, the maturity difference between those ages is immense.

After a certain age gap it can be difficult to relate to someone. Especially when you're in the adolescent/post-adolescent type phases. Once you hit your mid 20's and are more or less a 'grownup' an age gap of even 10 years isn't too big a deal cuz you have the same concerns and goals. etc.

When I was 16 all the girls I dated were anywhere from 15-19. I almost always dated girls pretty close in age to me. The biggest gap was when I was 21 or 22 I dated a girl who was 30.

A weird thought occurred to me that if you're 16 i'm a few months from being 'twice your age'

I feel old.

As soon as you turn 14 there is a magical golden rule (atleast in my eyes) that everyone should follow. Half your age plus 7

Well I am 15 and I would go for any 15-16 year old. Now lets just hope some miracle happens where it will actually happen.

At 16, I liked it where it is about now, no more then 4 years older then me, and no one younger then a year younger then me. Sorry guys, I just find the younger the guy I date (younger then me) the more I think that they are immature. I'm 19 And I'm Dating a 23 Year old, which is fine by me.

Speaking as a 21 year old myself, I can say that dating a 16 year old would make me feel incredibly...

slimey.

I prefer to stay within a year behind or at my own age level.
