Ok so all we do is shoot this out of our hands (or...something) or are we composed of it and have branching disabilities (if you have electricity/fire you can't drive a car because it'd blow up)?

I'd go with fire, but honestly if I could control an element there's no way I'd be a superhero. Villains all the way!!!

Ground, why?
Ground = earth and metal is just refined ore, thus i can control metal. BUT WAIT there's more! Since the majority of all man's creations come from minerals and ore, i can technically control almost anything man makes!

And also i can make the ground Om nom nom people...

I'm thinking Earth.
You could swim through the earth (like Chuck Norris), create volcanoes at will (playing an electric guitar infront of it for added effect), make the ground swallow up people, create barriers, stand on top of a forming column to get those pesky flying baddies, create shelters on the fly, squeeze oil/precious minerals out of the earth (making you rich), deposit good soil in infertile areas and probably a bunch of other things I can't think of at the moment.

Ice and Water are separate? You say it's because that's "overpowered" but you can't really just separate the two of them, they go together. But, apparently, having that superpower would be the worst superpower ever, not being able to use your power to all of its logical boundaries. That's like if the Flash just decided that he can only use his powers to run fast and not use it for other applications.

Still, to fit within your boundaries- I would pick power over Earth/Ground.
Maybe I was just thinking of the potential of the two, combined they are far too destructive considering most of the Earth is made up of water :/ At least seperated, a user is forced to think of more creative ways to use them, yeah they may be more or less the same thing, but I'm thinking for form the perspective that a water user can manipulate water as well as summon it, so tsunamis, rain and vapour are all part of what makes a water user powerful, look at planets that don't have an atmosphere made up of water, life fails to exist. So it seems a little unfair granting a water user the power of ice as well.

In my opinion, water is the most powerful element on that entire list because every form of life depends on it, it's not only destructive, its also a means of creation, everything else on that list exists around it, yeah, I suppose the others wouldn't cease to exist without water, but life, which is the most important thing depends on it, especially being a superhero and all, lol.

Anyway, yeah, I seperated it from ice because Ice is a force to be reckoned if it could be summoned at will as a means of defence or offence. Ice spikes, ice shields, etc

You are restricted to one of 6 elements (five usually, but ice AND water is a little overpowered):

Electricity, ice, water, ground, fire or wind.

Which one would you choose and why?

Also, consider how well you would take on people with the other elements in a fight to the death.
Ground... or more likely Earth. Why? I would be able to plunge my hand into the soil, attract minerals and make weapons of it. Spears, Sword, Gun, Trebuchet.... Hell, if you get creative, you'll be able to summon meteor from space (still considered Earth you know).

Beside that, The Golems are part of this (except for the undead mass of flesh that call themselves Golems in other RPG).

But I wouldn't do it alone. I'll would team up with a lovely redhead with Fire type power so we can make Lava.

Water just because it's the element of my star sign and it suits me, that and when I'm playing Pokemon water is my favourite type. And yes I will name all my attacks after Water type attack moves, now if you can excuse me, I'm going to practice my Surf and Hydro Cannon attacks.

If humans are over 60% water (and blood is about 92%, and brain matter is about 75%), and you had control over water, wouldn't you therefore have control over 60% of your enemy's body? If they tried to do anything to you, you could just say "OKAY FINE, MISTER! NO MORE PUMPING BLOOD FOR YOU!" *circulatory shock [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_(circulatory)]* *death*

I'd take Electrical powers myself.

If you need a reason as to why I want those powers over any other then just play the game Infamous and you'll know why.

Practically? Electricity. You can stun your opponents then beat them to hell, or just fry them up.

In awesomeness? Water or wind! Think of the awesome flowing combos you could do!!!

Water IS my favourite element, and it can be extremely powerful. Ima gonna have to go with water :)

Plus, according to Avatar it's meant to have healing properties...

All of these elements can destroy the entire humanity if manipulated correctly but earth is the most awesome in my opinion because you could cause earthquakes and change the entire landscapes and you could also make some kind of armor so u would be super strong and bulletproof.
Air,water and ice would be the problem though...
