Germany is my place to go, if I want to travel to europe. Already, went there twice last year. Although, now that one of my friends moved to poland, might have to hit up Wroclaw.
You're not really "breaking it" to me, considering there's a whole thread of people telling me nothing but good things about Japan and the Japanese. And it's no news it's an expensive country but I'm willing to save a year's worth to travel.mokes310 said:Bring lots of money, tell people you are Canadian, and be prepared to be taken advantage of and generally treated like absolute shit.Johnny Novgorod said:Yep, me too. Could care less for the Pacific War though, I wanna travel through the country on train and see the Shinto temples and the Ghibli Museum.A_Parked_Car said:I would like to go to Japan. Mostly out of my interest in the Pacific War and Imperial Japanese Navy. They have some pretty good museums and the like. I believe they even preserved Mikasa, which was the flagship of Admiral Togo at the Battle of Tsushima.
That and I think Japan would just be an interesting place to see in general.
The trains are amazingly expensive. A can of coke will run you about $5. A good meal will cost you close to $20. I hate to break it to you, but Japan is a tad douchy...
...forgot to mention...Learn Japanese because very few people speak English AND when they do, they'll expect you to speak Japanese...
It's a cool country no doubt, and tons of fun things to do. But compared to other countries in Asia, it's probably the least friendly towards travelers. The younger generations are pretty much the same towards us, but it's the older business owners that can be a bit douchy.Johnny Novgorod said:You're not really "breaking it" to me, considering there's a whole thread of people telling me nothing but good things about Japan and the Japanese. It'd be worth it just to get a pic of the Z-flag eh?!A_Parked_Car said:I would like to go to Japan. Mostly out of my interest in the Pacific War and Imperial Japanese Navy. I know, right? Stately homes/palaces, castles, museums (as in, the museums themselves, not their content), much of central & southern Germany was genuinely a veritable melting pot for pretty much every facet of cultural influence of the Enlightenment era. Definite first stop is Potsdam, though. All the natural architecture around the Sanssouci is still preserved, which is awesome.CleverCover said:Actually, I would cream myself for the chance to go there. The amount of living history, structures and otherwise, is incredible.
My sister went there (the Ghibli Museum)... and so. much. envy. They show a couple of shorts there which aren't available anywhere else, so it's worth going just for that.Johnny Novgorod said:Yep, me too. OK... that's another excuse! That was glorious! XDAntari said:You know you just want to go see the Miniatur Wunderland ... You don't need to make excuses.
