Upon trying to dive to the ground I suddenly noticed that I was floating, holy freaking crowbar I'm floating I thought, wait that means the gravity is gone, hmm as I ponder my current predicament I noticed my fellow prisoners clinging to the vents, I choose to forgo this idea and instead try floating my way to the solid wall by swinging my arms and legs as if I were swimming, which much to my joy worked, I managed to land on the wall, cool I feel like spiderman, then I pushed off with my legs to vault myself across the room in the hopes of hitting the bars and hopefully knocking one loose in order to effectively escape or at the very least knock one of them out of sync so when the power turns back on it'll short circuit and maybe blow the bars off.

The bars are made of reinforced durable steel, made to withstand any escape attempt short of a nuclear explosion. So, naturally, when you make contact with the bars, they-

...break?

You find yourself halfway out of your cell, the bars you were aiming for fractured where you hit them. Luckily, another tremor had hit to disguise the noise of wrenching metal. Paks "swims" over to where you are, bypassing the dividing line where the force field used to be. "This prison must be older than it looks. What do we do now?" she whispers nervously.

All but two guards have started slowly making their way to an over-sized hatch, their prisoners momentarily forgotten.

Raphael woke late... to find she was floating.

Panic washed over her, and she thrashed, trying to gain a sight of where she was and what was happening.

She began to list what she knew, methodically.

"Ok. I am Raphael. I used to be in my early twenties. I was a political criminal, and I was serving a sentence. Now I am floating, which means I am in... space?

"A space prison maybe? Ok, that figures, a lot of them are these days. That means I am free for now and need to get out."

Raphael looked around to see two figures pounding at some bars. Their atrophied limbs looked frail, but at least they were working on something.

"Want some help?" she asked, swimming over to them...

Surprise registered in my mind as improv attempt to ram the bars had ended up fracturing them as well as the fact I also noticed Paks and a moment later another female prisoner had made her way towards me. While I gently bring myself back inside the cell to look towards them, suddenly a very interesting idea began to form in my head in which I immeadiately pointed up so that the last two guards don't notice what we are up to only to realize they both are staring at the door their fellows went through with their guns half cocked towards it. Upon noticing their lack of attention to us I began floating up, utilizing the bars still attached to keep myself centered then once I hit the ceiling I begin yanking on the bars in the hopes that the others are just as flimsy, and break, hopefully the guards won't notice people escaping by ceiling rather than by normal means.

Thankfully, the upper bars were just as flimsy as the others, and Raphael, following Doug, felt triumph as she bent and fractured them.

It wouldn't be long before they broke their way out - if they could only get through before the guards noticed...

Unfortunately, one of the two guards came to its senses and started looking away from the main door that the others were inspecting. The guard gave a cry of alarm, slinging its weapon behind him, and launched itself towards the Escapists. The other guard, hearing its partner, turned around and took aim with its laser sight...

...through the hole that Doug, Raphael and Paks were trying to make. The first guard reached Paks first and grabbed her leg, pulling her frantically away from the hole. It continued yelling in an alien tongue, pointing at them and indicating that they should keep away from the ceiling.

What was going on?

Crud they noiticed, as soon as the guard grabbed Paks I managed to kick myself off the ceiling straight towards the guard that grabbed Paks, landed right beside him, I managed to get my feet under me as I landed then launched myself again straight at him knocking him over and loosening his grip, feeling the fear and adrenaline running through my system, I grabbed a hold of his arm in an attempt to keep him between myself and the gunman at the hatchway as I try to grab ahold of the baton holstered at his side.

Raphael kicked off and aimed for the gunman. Straight for him. She latched onto the gun, soon realised she was far too weak to knock his aim.

All people remained locked in place for several frantic seconds... before Raphael bared her teeth and sank them into the guard's trigger hand. At the same time, she used all the strength she had to pull the barrel down.

The guard managed one short burst of fire downwards, before his hand convulsed, and he involuntarily let go. Raphael wrenched the gun free, before kicking off the guard's body in order to get back to Doug and Paks.

Now fired upon adrenaline, she brandished her new weapon at the other guard, who was still locked between Doug and Paks.

"Drop your weapon! Now!" she ordered, panting from the unaccustomed exertion. She really, really hoped he didn't know that she had never fired a weapon in her life, and barely understood how to now...

Another rumble rippled through the prison corridor, and an ear-splitting wrenching sound was the only warning they got as a huge hand punched through the hole in the ceiling the Escapists were trying to get through. By this time, their struggle had attracted the other guards. Half of them arrived at the scene and took aim at the monster appendage with their laser sights.

The two other guards locked in a stalemate took the opportunity to launch themselves away from the hole, trying to grab Doug, Raphael, and Paks with them...and away from the other guards' line of fire.

Raw surprise took over as the monster hand shot out of the ceiling and suddenly I felt the guard who I had been wrestling launch us away from the hand dragging Pals along with us, guard number 2 who ad managed to tackle Raphael and launch him and her towards us along with us. I tried to get a better look as the guards were trying to drag us to the back hatch way behind us away from the fighting.
"What in the nine circles is that thing!" I screamed as we were dragged away.

The guards finally had a clear line of sight and opened fire on the grotesque arm, which was now blindly trying to grab anything near its vicinity. The sound of their weapons fire was oddly musical. In fact, it sounded suspiciously like a chord to anyone with a trained ear for music. The lasers that their weapons produced were of varying degrees of thickness, and the thicker beams were visibly wave-like in appearance.

If the Escapists looked closely at the nine guards who were firing, they were grouped into fire teams of three, and each team took turns firing with the practiced ease of repeated drill. Each burst lasted only a second, but the harmonics of their weapons fire tore through the base of the arm. An anguished Lovecraftian roar reverberated throughout their prison section as the monster withdrew, leaving its bloodied appendage to fall down through the hole.

The guards did not rest at this point, however. Two of the fire teams continued firing at the torn appendage, disintegrating it with matched harmonics. The other team of three covered the hole on the ceiling, in case anything else was tempted to come through.

Soon, the arm was gone, leaving a discolored mess on the grated deck. A trio of guards launched themselves up to the ceiling (since the gravity was still off), and proceeded to weld down the torn gashes of metal with their weapons, although the laser output sounded very different, almost subdued, as they closed the hole.

The two guards who were holding the prisoners placed a circular adhesive patch on their temples, and instantly they could understand what the guards were saying.

"-elcome to Containment Section 01000011. That-" the guard pointed to the drying mess on the deck, "-was the arm of a prisoner from a high gravity Section that was trying to escape from his Section into ours. Back in the day, things like this wouldn't happen. But now...well..."

As the hand gropped blindly around and my newfound allies and I stood starring my mind was trying to make sense of what is happening but once the gunfire stopped and the hand was completely disintegrated I felt the guard hit my head with some kind of patch I began to turn to the guard as he spoke suddenly realizing I could understand him.
"This place has obviously seen better days I am guessing? So what are we going to do now?" I asked.

"Our section is currently moving to a new location," the guard replied. "If you remember what it looks like from the outside, this station is a series of tubes-"

"Of course they won't remember what it looks like from the outside!" the other guard quipped. "They've been frozen for-"

Both guards were cut off, their transmissions ended abruptly by what one would suspect was a command circuit. Another armored guard, who seemed no different from the rest, was staring straight at the two guards who have befriended the prisoners.

Upon taking notice of an unfriendly coming from a certain guard I turned to face him glaring right back at him and said out loud "Got a problem budy?"

Almost in response, the two guards who befriended them saluted the guard facing them. Their comlinks were open once more, and the two friendly guards escorted the three prisoners almost apologetically back to new cells.

"I'm guessing that was their boss," Paks murmured to her fellow prisoners, tilting her head towards the other guard, who was now heading back toward the main door with the others.

It wasn't long before another tremor reverberated through their prison section...

They were passing another container!

"You reckon they're going to freeze us again?" Raphael whispered as they marched along.

Everyone remained silent, and she hung her head, feeling awkward. All fight taken out of her, she plodded along behind everyone else. When the guards ushered her into a new, isolated cell, she entered, and sat down down on the bed, shoulders bowed and eyes lowered.

As far as she could tell, that was it. Her dash for freedom was over, and she had nothing to show for it. With a sigh, she lay down. Eyes closed, she could hear the humming of machinery, the thump of footsteps... and the occasional tremor from a high gravity container.

She began singing to herself, in her naturally high voice. Anything to distract herself; for all she knew, this could be a long, long time to wait.

It could be forever.

"I hope not..." Paks whispered back.

They were placed in separate cells, far away from each other, so it took Paks by surprise when she heard singing.

"Raphael...? But how...?" She then remembered to check her temple...the translator! "Raphael! Doug! These things act like communicators!"

Raphael sat up.

"Wowee. Sorry, thought you couldn't hear me," Raphael said. She was obscurely embarrassed to think others had heard her sing. She gathered her thoughts.

"Um, ok, do you think they gave us these translators on purpose? To get out? Or for some other reason?"

Raphael's mind raced. They were far away from each other, yet could hear each other. Also, they had contact with the guards who rescued them. Would that be of any use? Could they break free from their captors before someone decided to freeze them again?

And why had she begun singing? Raphael hadn't sung in years. She remembered the harmonic guns, and the sound-waves they produced. She'd had the harmony in her head ever since. Did the harmonies only work on those prisoners, or were they part of a greater pattern, that could be used and exploited for their own use?

In any case, she knew what she wanted. She wanted out; out of this cell, out of this prison, and out of this station, seemingly crumbling under the weight of too many prisoners.

"I still want to get out. Even if they don't freeze me." Raphael stated. "Do you have any ideas how we could?"

"Raphael, if you don't mind, please sing for us again," Paks requested. "This time, let's all grab hold of our bars. Maybe the harmonics can do the same thing to them like those laser harmonics did to that monster arm!"

What the heck is up with this place, I was in a kinda dim lull of thought wondering what else could be out there dimly noticing that I was in a new cell and realizing my two allies happened to be farther away. I was shook by my lul courtesy of Raphael singing.

"Thats a good plan Paks, lets go with it before the power comes back on and we get electricuted, or better yet before that creature whatever it is comes through the ceiling anywhere near us again." I said over the patch, heh it looks like these patches are a lttle more useful than I gave them credit for I thought to myself as I thought back to the harmonic noise those weapons utilized as started humming it has a try to gently shake the bars tryin to keep in sync with Raphael singing.

"You know if this plan works I will definitely be revising my opinions on the usefulness of rythms and harmonics." I spoke as we tried our improv attempt on operation get the heck outta here before becoming lunch for some cosmic monstrocity or worse yet be put on the deep freeze again.
