YouTube Gaming Commentators

You know the guys. They're on Machinima, Machinima Respawn etcetera, and they post gameplays of themselves and speak over it. Hutch, Starsky, Tejb and SeaNanners are examples.

What is the Escapist's opinion on these guys? Do they do gaming justice, or annoy?


An example, as some people seem confused as to what I'm talking about.

Well, some are okay, but some are pretty awful, and just annoying.

Luckily, I don't watch any, so it doesn't make any difference to me.

Gaming related internet Machinima are in the same boat as browser games.

For every good one, there's about ten or more shitty ones.

Some of them are funny, some of them are terrible. I prefer the Goon LPers myself, youtube's time limit and quality suck so Viddler is better anyway.

I do that sometimes....well very little but it's fun. What I hate in intros to their videos. Takes up too much time and usually has horrible music. "Crappy music, clips of some of their matches, .... presents or a ... production."

They're at the part where ya follow Naomi's trail, not even close to done, but unlike chip, they talk during cutscenes, which is good as long as you don't mind subtitles. Chip knows way more about how to play though, his mgs3 LP is probably my favorite lp ever (mission J frog NO!)

I can actaully watch your videos. But not ones with generic death metal intros and MW2 montages

If you mean LPers, then I quite like them yes, my Favourite is Arm4g3dd0nx, he is one of the biggest ones on youtube and has made tons of videos.

I use to watch an "LPer" by the name of Cloud8745 before he started letting the internet eat at him and went all crazy. I now watch LP's sparingly cause most don't have the same crazy feeling Cloud did before he went and started feeding THE TROLLS.

To be fair, the game he was LPing before going nuts was I Wanna Be The Guy. That does bad things to anyone's sanity.

I used to watch a couple of competitive Pokemon battlers on YouTube, Banana292 or whatever his name was used to be quite funny, but nowadays I don't do that.

Narrated walkthroughs are probably quite helpful but for that I have GameFAQs.
