Would you actually use it?

I did love that anime (before it started to become slightly misguided towards the end), and for those of you who haven't seen Death Note, watch it. Wiki it to find out more about it.

Assuming you have seen it (because we have a lot of anime lovers here), do you think you would make use of that note pad, and how would you have played it off differently so you didn't eventually get caught if you did?

I would test it to see results ... probably on some criminal or leader of north korea for giggles to see chaos that will happen since imho things are so sad there that killing one dictator would perhaps make things better or give power to military which tries to blow up world... which would be the situation now so things can only go better

I didn't like Deathnote. I watched the first episode and it weirded/grossed me out.

Besides, a BOOK that kills people? You know they're running out of ideas when you can just write someones name and kill them.

I'd use it. Some people just need to die. I wouldn't use it carelessly mind, someone would have to do something pretty big to warrant such an execution. What would you have them do, for anyone who knows all the rules of the death note?

HA I'm on no moral high ground and neither are you. You would all use it at least once. I'd use it to improve my life first then how I feel it would improve the lives of everyone(that would take careful study) I know some real useless deadbeat assholes.

Don't you mean "Deathnote"? It's sound like you only heard of the manga/ anime but not watch it (I'm not accusing you).
Anyway onto OP. I would probably will use it for perssonal but I would only keep hold of it so I would have a shinigami for a friend well something to hand around with.

Yeah, I'd use it, and I'd do better than Light for one good reason: I don't believe my own hype.

That's right. Light Yagami started actually believing he was some kind of god to people, good or otherwise. He was, in fact, a complete nutjob. The way to use the Deathnote is never to fall for some oddball genius' VERY OBVIOUS TRAPS. This never would've happened to Light if he'd just ignored that one call-out. L would be like "Well, that didn't work out... Back to the drawing board, I guess.".

So anyway, what to use it on... Well, there are some people who do irritate me. It'd be nice to unveil some justice (or hell, revenge) on people whom I feel deserve not just an end to their lives, but an amusing one. So yes, I guess I'd be doing it for the pleasure of putting people through some silly deaths. Like an accident involving attaching fireworks to your motorcycle. Can you imagine that?
