Medievil Europe, the Templar Knights, becuse they just fucking are. it took the entire church to kill them, how bad ass is that (considering how powerful the church is back then).
Era: During the near future of 2020.
Bodyguards: Playing on the human psyche of course, simply persuading people that I am the greatest person of all time will make them absurdly loyal. Throughout history people have died and protected useless objects and causes, should be simple to recreate that spirit.
Why I should rule: I want great changes for this world which is slowly crumbling in its own existence. People fear this crumbling, in lack of security they seek help at the people that speak up, that take a stand.
Of course I would be slightly manipulative, what ever gave you that idea?

Reason they are the best: As long as I maintain Muslim rights in my Medieval world government, then it is in their best interest to keep me alive, to protect them from the more radical Christians.
Once I installed this society, I'd probably just fuck around in various cities in the Medieval world. I hear Constantinople is nice this time of year.

2)Halo's Blue Team equipped with Portal Guns and whatever weaponry+ Darth Vader.With a private army of 600 Spartans(300 from Sparta and 300 Spartan 3's from Halo)
3)I have freakin Spartans and a Sith Lord. Spartans are awesome: Completely loyal(save 1 or 2), can take on anything and live/ defend till they die. And the Dark Side is always awesome with Vader.

my bodyguard are my an chick who is kinda my wive/girlfriend and nows how to use weapons(she has to be hot te be my wive/girlfriend) the the 1e imperial battalion of knights (like 500 of the best soldiers in the world) the knights of the table(like 12 people who are better then the 1e battalion and are more like commando style), the imperial guard, the imperial intelligence service and the cultist (40.000 loyal slaves who will gladly give there lives for me). i would also lead many attacks on the rebels and will crush them because of my awesomeness
