Jason followed Damien into the bathroom. Why on earth does he want me to accompany him to the bathroom!? Is he lonely? However, Jason quickly saw what appeared to be a standoff. Three jocks on one side of the room and three of his homeroom classmates on the other.

"My my, its quite the sausage fest in here. Would someone please explain to me the reason for this standoff?" Jason asked dryly. For him, humor was a defence mechanism. He knew something was about to go down, however, humor helped him keep his cool. Then, he remembered something.

Normally, a life or death situation is needed in order for the powers to awaken. However, with this bracelet, much less is needed to stimulate them.

Maybe a good brawl is just what they needed to get these so-called powers to awaken. On the other hand, if the teachers caught wind of this fight, we would be suspended for sure.

"Ugh, powers or suspension...Powers or suspension..." He mumbled over and over in his head... "Well, lets just see where this conflict goes."

Wait, wasn't the whole homeroom class here now? This was getting a little out of hand. Instead of just one or two people, there was enough for a whole class. It was then that Van heard Jason speak 'would someone please explain the reason for the sausagefest.' There was no way that he was going to let this go unexplained. "Well we were going to have a nice cookout, but these three decided to play with someone's skirt. Now we need to teach them a lesson." 30 seconds ago, he wouldn't even think it was close to a fair fight. Well, it wasn't any more fair, but the scales were tipped in their favor.

Turning his attention back to the jocks, Van issued a challenge. "If you think you can do whatever you want, then come take us down." Most people would have been calm and rational, or at least thought out the consequences. Van was not most people. Instead he went straight into it. With all their numbers, they could take these guys. Though maybe they would be lucky and get off without having to fight. A fight would be fun, but then they would be in trouble... Well it wasn't his choice anymore.

Lina eyed the bracelets skeptically, but took one anyway as she left the classroom.

She still couldn't believe what she had just seen had really happened... but everyone else in the class seemed to have seen it too...

There seemed to be a commotion coming from the boy's bathroom, but Lina ignored it, seeing as it was none of her business.

Enough of this,, She thought bitterly, I'd better figure out where I have to go next... She reached into her bag, attempting to find her schedule, but inadvertantly bumped into someone else.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" A voice snapped, and she looked up to see an older girl dressed in designer clothing glaring down at her. Several other girls stood nearby, looking at her like she was covered in dirt or something.

"Well, aren't you going to apologize?"

Lina's eyes narrowed. "You don't own the hallways, you know."

"Humph, don't you know who I am?" The girl sneered, "I've been head of the cheerleader team for three years running. You're just a nobody."

She turned away, but Lina still heard her say, "What a loser, I bet she doesn't even have a decent outfit to wear."

"Hey, if you're going to insult me, at least say it to my face!" She shouted angrily, and the girls turned back, looking confused.

"What are you talking about?" The leader asked. The other girls just giggled.

"Freak girl..." "What a weirdo..." The voices came from them this time, but their mouths weren't moving...

The head girl saw Lina staring, and turned away again. "Humph, let's go girls, I don't want anyone to see us with someone like her."

Lina watched the older girls walk off, not understanding what had just occured.

What... was that? She thought, shocked. Was I...reading her thoughts just now? Lina glanced down at the bracelet on her wrist, remembering what Mrs. Tanya had said.

No way... that's impossible... but the only other explaination is that I'm loosing my mind... and I really hoping that's not the case...

Though Alex would rather avoid a fight, he had been completely ready for one. He knew something of the players in front of them, and the strength that they had was very little in comparison to the strength, skill, and training that Alex had. Alex wasn't quite certain that he could entirely beat the three on his own, but he was confident enough that he would earn his rank as the best boxer in the school and one of the best brawlers.

Alex was quite surprised when the trio's victim squeezed away and Alex did see that it was one of the people from that strange morning class. Alex was even more surprised when he saw what he was wearing; Alex hadn't seen much of the student's clothing when they had been seated at desks. But he quickly filed that away for later consideration, he had other things to focus on at the moment. "Err... yah."

Alex was quite pleased though when more people entered, though it was in the middle of class time so it was a bit of a surprise. Still, the common bully M.O. tended to shy away from having witnesses, things were always easier to control with fewer people. Alex was even more grateful when he glanced back and saw who it was. Another of the guys from the 'special' homeroom; Damien, the exploding dummy guy; real or not that was something Alex wouldn't forget in a hurry. And while Alex didn't want any students getting blown up, bullies or not, Damian's posture was pretty indicative of backing Alex up. Jason was there too and he also seemed ready to rumble. Even Sonny seemed ready show some backbone, though Alex would almost prefer for him to stay out of it if possible; but commendable all the same.

Alex faced the bullies again with a confident grin on his face. "Looks like things have changed a bit for now. Now I'm a nice guy so I'll let you go this time."

He took a few confident steps towards the football players in a confident, but not incautious way. He dropped his voice a bit to a conspiratorial level and spoke to the bullies. "Now let's get something straight. If you bother the little guy any more without going through me first, you'll be sitting the season out on account of mysteriously broken limbs. Understand?"

The football players knew they were outmatched. One or two guys they could take, but now there were five of them including the weird girl-boy, and there was no way they weren't going to get the crap kicked out of them if they tried starting anything.

The leader smirked cockily - not as cockily as before, but he made an effort to maintain the facade of confidence - and said, "You guys are gonna regret sticking your nose where it don't belong. I'm the captain of the football team, dig? You may think you're tough, ganging up on us like this, but when you've got eleven guys whaling on you at once, you'll wish you'd never even come to this school."
"Watch your backs!" one of his lackeys added, somewhat unnecessarily, and the leader turned around and scowled at him. Then he motioned with his hand and started to walk towards the door with his two cronies in tow.

The head jock only made it a couple of steps before he realized leaving was going to be difficult, what with the number of bodies filling up the doorway. He stopped short of the door and spoke, now a little more quietly. "Uh... could we go, please?"

Damien grinned as he heard the football captain utter his threat. Damien snaked out of the group and began to slowly throw the ball up into the air and catch it. "And I'm the captain of the baseball team. And can you guess what we use in baseball? Why yes, bats. Now, unless you think your arm is stronger than a steel bat, you will tell all your friends to stay away from Sonny over here. Hell, you will even make sure no-one else screws with him. Because unlike Alex over here, I am quite the vindictative man. And since you probably don't understand words that are more than 3 syllables, I'll break it down fer ya. If I ever see Sonny with so much as a black eye, I will gather up the guys and we will find you. If you try to run, I will throw this baseball after you and have it chase you down to the ends of the earth. So bring your 11 guys. It's not much use when I can cut you down from 90 feet away with impunity." Damien's face was cold, like a storm rising over what was once a beautiful Carribean sea. Damien then grinned and held the door open for them mockingly. "But I have complete faith in that you won't ever try something like this, so no worries, right? I'm sure we'll get along just fine." And thus the sea was calm again, somehow more disconcerting than if he had been angry the whole time.

The football players shuffled out through the open door, their eyes locked firmly on the ground, and the captain only managed to work up the courage to turn around and flip Damien off just before he turned down a corner heading into another corridor.

Sonny looked up into the face of the one who had warded off the bullies. Recognizing the face, he raised a hand to his hair, which was still dripping water onto the bathroom tiles. "All is forgiven," he decided. Then he stepped back and adressed the group as a whole. "Thank you very much, everyone. You didn't have to help me, but went out of your ways to do so, and for that I'm very grateful." Sonny struggled to think of a way to properly thank his new compatriots, but happened to glance at his watch as he did so and noticed the time. "Oh, hell! I'm sorry, everyone; I've made you all late!" Sonny scurried out of the door and waved goodbye to most of these new allies. "Say, does anyone have English now? I'm not really comfortable walking on my own..."

Jason slid out of the way and let the jocks pass unharmed. "Heh, pansies. probably can't tell their helmets from a toilet." Jason smirked smugly in triumph.

"Oh, hell! I'm sorry, everyone; I've made you all late!" The guy/girl yelled.

"Oh shit! Damien, we better get going. Our teacher's gonna be pissed!." Jason tugged at Damien's sleeve, motioning for him to follow.

He raced down the hall and quickly found the classroom, B9. "Sorry I'm late Doc! Zipper got stuck in the Bathroom." Jason apologized as he took his seat.

"Late on the first day Mr. Caston. not a good way to start off the semester."

"I know I Know, there's one more coming though so be ready to say that line to him." Jason joked.

Damien sauntered in, as cool as can be. He made a show of looking at his class schedule, nodded his head, then walked in and quickly made his way to the seat next to Jason. He wasn't quick enough, however, to escape a rebuke from the teacher. "Mr. Lier, you're late on the first day. What do you have to say in your defense?" Damien meekly shrugged and said, "Sorry sir,, I just arrived here from L.A." Damien grinned inwardly as he heard the whole room buzz with gossip.
"L.A.? So he's like, from California?"

"Hmm, West Coast sounds like a nice catch...

"Damn Californian! Getting so much friggin' attention!"

The teacher quieted all the students down. "Well then Mr. Lier, I suppose you should just be a bit faster next time." He sighed. He wrote his name on the board. "For all the new students, and those of you who forgot, my name is Dr. Sparrow. Now, turn to page 203 in your textbooks..." As the teacher droned on, Damien elbowed Jason. "See, that's how it's done!" He whispered, clearly having got off the hook. "Mr. Lier!" Dr. Sparrow roared, apparently showing that peculiar trait of all doctorates to be able to hear a whisper from 30 feet away, through 3 rows of students. "Since you seem to know so much as to be able to ignore my class, can you please tell the class what the formula for the time period of a pendulum is?" Damien shrugged. "Sure. It's 2 times pi times the square root of L divided by 9.81, 9.81 being the acceleration due to gravity on earth at sea level, and L representing the length of the given pendulum." Dr. Sparrow looked taken aback. "Err.. Yes, that's correct. Very good, Mr. Lier." The teacher turned around and began to teach the class as if no challenge had been made. Still, people knew now the Californian had smarts, along with everything else.

Alex was unimpressed by the threats of the football team's head. They knew each other a bit, and this would be far from the first time that the football team and the hockey had clashed. Alex was a bit surprised by Damien though; the baseball team had mostly stayed out of the way previously, though that was under the previous captain who had hated violence.

After the others had left, Alex looked down at the smaller Sonny and thought for a moment. "Well, obviously I'm not in the same class as you, but I'm headed in that direction anyways. So I'll see you there, least I could do." Alex gave a friendly smile as he set off down the hallway.

Jack walked back into school grumbling to himself all the way he was sprinting back to school. As he walked in to Mr. Leir's class Mr. Leir asked "And who are you...?". Jack replied "Ummm Jack Wooden sorry I'm late there was a lot of traffic on my run from home to here." "Well.....don't let it happen again take your seat please." Jack sat down next to the Californian. He heard the whispers of the other people.

"Did he really say run?"

"Do you think he was joking"

"I don't know he's all sweaty and stuff maybe he's telling the truth?"

"Um... thanks," Sonny said. He scuttled off down the hall at a reasonable pace, slowly enough that he wouldn't leave his friend behind but quickly enough that he wouldn't be late. They arrived at the door within less than a minute, and before opening the door Sonny suddenly wrapped his arms around Alex's neck and jumped up into his arms. As his arms weren't free Sonny kicked the door open and gestured for Alex to walk through with his head.

"Hello; sorry I'm late!" Sonny called to the teacher at the front of the class in his most damsel-in-distressy voice. "I took a tumble down some stairs and twisted my ankle, and this helpful gentleman helped me get here on time." Sonny smiled up at Alex. "Oh, I hope he isn't too late... could you send a message to his teacher explaining why he's been absent, please?"

The teacher sighed. "Fine, I'll write him a note or something..." Evidently he didn't give a damn whether Sonny had turned up at all or not, so he wasn't really bothered by his lateness, rendering the whole tragic tale rather pointless, but Alex's first teacher may be less apathetic, so the story wasn't without benefit.

The teacher gestured vaguely at one of the empty desks and mumbled at Alex. "Dump 'er there, then get to class already. Oh, and take this:" He held out a crumpled sheet of paper on which he'd written the words "this guy helped a cripple, don't put him in detention. Princey".

Still in disbelief, and still swiping gel off his clothes and person, Angelo took a Bracelet and left the classroom, admiring the SPIRIT on it, before putting it on. He went to his classes as normal taking a small and slow walk past the students. His first class wasn't of any concern right now. What he just saw was. People with powers did not make any sense. Did everyone have powers here? Did all adults have powers but keep it a secret from the younger children out of fear they might want to aspire to be a superhero with said powers? Are all these superheroes meant to influence our decisions when we do get these? She said that not everyone gets these. Could it be that the reason that people are so tight lipped about it is because no-one wants anyone to feel left out? How did he even know that anything she said about the powers was true?

Angelo shook himself and brought himself back to reality. He needed to focus and get to class. He had English first. He had to concentrate no matter that he had no clue what he just saw and the logic behind it or the secret that may or may not have been...

THUD

Crap! Angelo thought, as he knocked into another boy, causing them both to stumble.

"Hey!" He yelled, holding his arms outwards.

"Sorry, I didn't see you," Angelo replied and got a look at the boy. He was big, in more ways than one and looked angry. "I have a lot on my mind. Again, I'm sorry." Angelo put his hand in front of him, "No hard feelings?"

The boy's nose rose and flared. Angelo predicted a fight might happen and positioned himself so it looked like he was asserting the handshake, but was actually positioning himself to dodge out the way of the large and angry boy.

"Fine!" He said in utter disgust, "Just watch where you're going, got it? Don't want to have any shit this early in the day!" He refused the handshake and didn't apologise, as he could have moved out of the way just as easily as he could, but he didn't cause a scene or hold a grudge.

A neutral response. Not worthy of note. Might have an anger issue. Angelo noted before moving on to class, where he sat down and worked, distracting himself from the issue he faced.

So, so sorry for not posting. No excuses. Just me being lazy and not writing. Again, Apologies.

Alex flushed a deep red color when Sonny literally umped up into his arms. Alex was caught off guard but dutifully played his part in the excuse, which he fortunately didn't have to speak for. Quickly taking his note, he silently sped out of the class and on his way. More weirdness, what else could he expect?

Arriving shortly at his own class he quickly showed the note and found a seat after answering a question or two in relation to the story. The lesson was in mathematics, and the teacher was normally considered good; but Alex just couldn't concentrate on the numbers at all. Try as hard as he might Alex could only look out the nearby window and reflect on the day as it had passed.

Alex took a moment to scratch at his arm where the SPIRIT band rested, the thing seemed a bit itchy now that Alex was relaxed. He wondered if it was some kind of allergic reaction for a moment. Alex was drawn back to the world though when the teacher suddenly asked him for the next step in the problem.

"Umm... Uh." He tumbled as he looked down at his notes he had been taking, hopping to find some answer in them. However, his hopes were dashed when all he saw were doodles and gibberish. Well what did he expect when he hadn't actually been paying attention to the lesson?

"Sorry. I don't know." He apologized. The teacher gave him a chastising stare for a moment before moving on to another student. Alex really did try to pay attention afterword, but it just seemed impossibly hard even compared to his normal difficulties.

Van had spent enough time having fun. Now that the jocks were dealt with, he felt that he could go off and spend some time outside of a big group. As he walked out, Sonny asked if anyone else had English class. There was an idea of saying that he did, but decided that they he would figure it out. Wandering around for a while, he soon found himself bored and decided it was time to go back and sit in the class.

Once he got back in the class, Van saw a familiar face. Nodding to Sonny, he returned to his desk. After sitting down, the teacher shot Van a mean look. He had spent too much time out at the bathroom for his liking. It didn't really matter too much. Once the teacher returned to his job, Van just ignored him.

I'm on vacation so I may only be able to post once per day or so.

They day dragged on. All of Ms. Tanya's students have successfully conducted their first day of class. After their final class of the day, the students all gathered back in Ms. Tanya's classroom.

"Good afternoon everyone! I trust that your day was an interesting one." Ms. Tanya smiled as she watched the students settle into their seats. "Alright everyone, has anything unique or special happened to you today? Have you noticed anything out of the ordinary?"

Jason moved his arm to his scar and felt it. He quickly jerked it away as he felt the heat coming off of it. "Ouch!" He yelped as he rolled up his long sleeve shirt to get a look at it. The scar was pulsing with a soft blue light. "Holy shit!" He tried patting it with his other sleeve, but the pulsing continued.

"Oh, Looks like your power is almost ready to awaken Jason. An hour or two more with that bracelet and you will have your first experience with your Spirit Power." She said excitedly.

"You mean it's gonna come out through my scar!?" Jason asked her, worried about what was about to occur.

"Yup! Don't worry, it doesn't hurt at all. Just ask Damien. His didn't hurt him at all, did it?" Ms. Tanya turned her head to the young man.

"Now, Back to my question. Like Jason here, has anything strange happened throughout the day? Anything at all? Comon! Speak freely!" Ms. Tanya encouraged the young people.

Alex felt tired as he sat in his seat and listened to the others. He remembered that every term starting was a bit exhausting, but he didn't remember it being quite this draining. Then again, there was that whole demonstration in the morning with Damion, and then the rigmarole with the bathroom. He had also spent most of the lunch period with the boxing team giving the new kids some coaching. Nothing abnormal surely, Alex would probably just sleep real well tonight.

"Well there wasn't anything with me. But I have been wondering a bit: what exactly is this? I mean, even if I assume this isn't some kind of trick, what's the point of telling us all this? Why these?" He pointed at the SPIRIT wristband. "Why us? But mostly just, why?" Alex could barely stifle a yawn as he waited for an answer.
