I've been watching a yuri series call Sakura Trick and love the series so far. Since I'm not that familiar with the selection of yuri anime out there, I was hoping the members of the escapist could give me some recommendations on some other yuri anime. If it helps, I'm currently using a Crunchyroll free trial.

Bonus points if the title has a dub since I'm more of a dub guy.

EDIT: I also got a subscription to Amazon Prime and Hulu plus.

So you want lesbian anime, is what your saying. Can't tell you any series, not really what I go looking for. There was a giant robot series that had lesbians in it, but I can't remember the name.

Is it the one SF Debris is reviewing [http://blip.tv/sf-debris-opinionated-reviews/kannazuki-no-miko-episode-1-review-6843668]? Kannazuki No Miko? It looks like shit honestly, and there is something about the main character getting raped midway through the story by another girl and forgiving her in the end which is... not at all right.

There aren't all that many that are not outright pornographic, but there are a handful with yuri undertones. Most of them are still open to interpretation though, or merely have it implied. I am also not aware of any on CrunchyRoll aside from Sakura Trick.

Manga has a much wider selection seeing as it is cheaper to make and mainstream anime, like games are targeted at a young male audience more than anybody else. Hence why most yuri anime is pornographic.

Battle Athletes Victory. One of the few. I recommend that any potential viewers ignore the OVA and go direct to the TV series.

I own the entire series on DVD, which is odd because I can't stand the majority of anime out there. It's just a cultural difference is all I'm saying.

I wish you luck friend. Almost 99% of Yuri is hentai. You'll never find an English dub either. Somethings just are not worth a dub, especially such a niche genre of anime that could easily be controversial. I'd suggest heading over to myanimelist, going to Sakura Trick's page, and then clicking on the yuri tag. See what you find in the resulting pages.

Madoka Magica. Yeah, it's not technically Yuri, but that show is so gay that it might as well be. Also, it's just an excellent show, so watch it (in sub, the dub's pretty weak).

Also, Revolutionary Girl Utena, although the lesbian stuff isn't really til later.

Also, if you're into manga, I'd recommend Girl Friends, which is a pretty solid yuri manga with a well-written couple, because they are actually friends outside of being lovers. It's only 35 chapters (made into 2 omnibuses), so check it out.

here's the TV tropes page on the genre. it has a list of yuri anime and manga (some of which had been turned into anime)

yup, there was absolutely nothing about that which could have possibly given any actual reason for the forgiveness. nothing at all. defiantly not anything that could possibly make the action seem forgivable.

(sigh) this is one of the reasons why I feel this show needs to have a good chunk of it's ending spoiled before watching. I feel like most people would stop at episode 8, and never find out the actual reasons for what happened, and be unable to actually decide whether the action is or isn't forgivable.

and the show does get better around episode 5-ish

Really, Japan loves their soppy, schmaltzy "it's not porn, it's romance" gay porn involving pretty boys. Even though in a lot of it, it's pretty deep, and the gay-bit is only a foundation for a much bigger plot.

...Though, while in 90% of the non-smut you could replace one or both of the pretty boys with pretty girls and there wouldn't be a difference, Japan isn't very keen on lesbians. Granted, there being less of it - and thus having less of a market wanting a story - a lot of it is just smut.

There are a few good story-oriented ones, though. Too hard to name them, though, but Tv Tropes has a few indexed on the Yuri page.

Hmmmmmm...

My area of enthusiasm is ecchi and hentai yuri... and I also love subs and detest dubs, so I bring quite a collection of narrow-focused nice-of-a-niche smut and not much else to the table.

There's a classic called Strawberry Panic you might like. And if you broaden your horizons by including Manga, you'll go from almost nothing that matches your tastes to having a decent selection.

Specifically Flag Time and Honto No Kanojo are ongoing and slow to update, but decent.

That's really all I can do for you unless you'd like me to list the explicit stuff.

Oh, and Kannazuki No Miko is excellent.

Maria Holic has a lot of yuri themes the main character is a lesbian and goes to an all girl school but it is not a porn anime its mostly a comedy anime and the show has been dub

I'd recommend Candy Boy. Weird name, but cool anime. It's not hentai, and I found it kind of endearing.

First, I want to thank everyone for their recommendations so far and I really appreciate it. I know I wasn't very specific in what I was looking for in a yuri title. The reason for that is that, outside of lolis and hentai, I'm open to trying out whatever is out there.

I've already love and bought the Madoka blu-rays. I'd initially had trouble with the dub, but now I'm okay with it.

I knew someone was going to recommend Utena at some point. I've tried that series, but I had a hard time getting into it due to it's bizarrely heavy (and cryptic) amounts of symbolism. I did thought the main character was cool though.

I've heard fair bit about Girl Friends from random websites, but I normally don't go for manga. Then again, I almost bought the first volume of Soul Eater NOT!, before I heard about the anime version.

So, on Crunchyroll eh?
Yuru Yuri is the obvious choice then. That's the anime that convinced me to get a premium subscription to the CR. Well, that and Hunter X Hunter. It's probably my favorite Schoolgirl Slice of life anime, and trust me, I've watched a lot of them.

Yes. It's even better than Azumanga Daioh.

I think I'll try out YuruYuri now, since everyone seems to be recommending it. Hopefully the dub version of Toradora will sell well enough for NIS America to dub more of their stuff, including YuruYuri & Genshiken "Second Season".

For some reason, I could never get into Azumanga Daioh, even though I'm a big Lucky Star fan.
