Surprised that they get Joss Whedon, but I suppose he's not beholden to any one studio. His success with Avengers and talent in general make him a good choice.
He wrote some reshoots for JL, and he's directing Batgirl, so he makes even more sense. The guy gets to be known as the director of both the first Avengers movie and the first Justice League movie.

I think a lot of us forget that these are actual people with lives and feelings and not just meat robots programmed to feed our hunger for entertainment.

Oh God, I just realised that. That's one hell of a resume. I mean, there's geek cred, and then there's being King Geek of Nerd Mountain.

(Justice League will almost certainly be credited to Snyder primarily since it went into post-production a while ago; Whedon might get an "additional photography" credit. I'm not sure what the protocol is for reshoot directors, really.)

We should all thank that girl for taking one for the team so to make Snyder stop.
Yes, that's exactly why she committed suicide. To make her father stop working on movies because of emotional trauma. I'm sure we should all be overjoyed that someone DIED for the sake of entertainment.

I was going to debate the JJ comment as well, but I find this comment too disgusting to even bother.

And the only reason people remember Heath Ledger is... Not brokeback mountain, not A knights Tale, but...?

I was rejoicing when I heard the news, but this is not how I imagined it happening. Prayers and condolences to his family as well.

If anyone was wondering, apparently his daughter committed suicide back in March.

Thanks for sharing a link. My sympathies to Snyder and his family. Very tragic.

Actually, I know him from both those roles, as well as The Dark Knight. But the equivalency being made is that we should be happy that Ledger died as well.

Which we shouldn't. At all. And especially not for a parent who lost their child.

If you enjoy his performance as the Joker then you are happy that he died, because that is the direct cause and effect of it.

The hell? He died from an accidental drug overdose.

Also, that's faulty logic, as the quality of The Dark Knight isn't dependent on Ledger dying. It wasn't even his last film. And that's also false equivalency, because any joy derived from TDK is separate from taking joy in the death of Snyder's daughter in of itself as a catalyst.

Also, sorry for the language I will use here but fuck those in social media who are cheering this news. You see, as much as that format can be used for good, you have arseholes who will use it for being a bunch of cunts and bring out the worse in humanity with zero compassion and respect. Awful awful people.
It is absolutely astounding the amount of hatred some people can carry around for an individual just for making something they didn't like. It's like a personal affront to them or something- "How DARE you not cater to my tastes! Do you know who I AM?!"

Anyone cheering the death of someone's child just because they didn't like that person's movies can go fellate a weedwhacker.

Oh, Christ. I hadn't heard about that.

Zack, on the off-chance your grief causes you to browse the Escapist forums: I always loved your movies. Every single one. Even Sucker Punch.
Me too. Apart from 300. Well 'loved' is a strong word, but enjoyed much more than expected. Certainly a lot more than internet consensus appears to. Am a sucker for certain audio-visual styles with strong soundtracks.

It's a tragic loss to bear, my sincerest respects and thoughts to him and his grieving family. What it must be like to have to deal with such social media bullcrap, I have no idea. It was bad enough for Robin Williams' family after his passing, and hardly anybody had previous beef with them.

You know how much of a heartless **** you sound like right? Including the earlier banned comment.

Poor bastard. While his directing has been hit and miss generally he's a guy with a vision and i respect that. Also no-one deserves to lose a child. I hope he can recover from this.
Agreed. I am not a fan of his DC stuff but 300 and Sucker Punch (At least in my opinion) were great movies that were visually gorgeous and totally unique. The guy has talent. No one deserves a tragedy like this and I hope he and his family come out the other side okay.

Amazingly even Warners seem to be less dickish than usual about the whole thing.
I was surprised to read that WB suggested moving the release date back as well. Some humanity from a faceless corporation for once.
