I never really had a dream job but I knew I wanted to work with computers, I'm now working as an IT Technician at a small office which is part of a huge global business.

I honestly never really had a dream future job, but I was always kind of interested in becoming a vet. Then A-levels came around, I didn't do well enough and now I'm stuck doing chemistry. So for what it's worth, I was never able to attain my "dream job".

Answering with superhero often got me a few laughs at school though, I guess 17 year olds are easy to amuse.

Funny, most of my childhood dreams involve dinosaurs as well. Or superheroes. Or Jedi.

Woo hoo! Congratulations! Though I thought New Zealand was too pleasant and laid back to have crime.

How do you know if you're going to achieve it or not without trying though? Yeah you might not be too likely to get astronaut or footballer, but many of your more sensible 'dream jobs' only take application forms, interviews and a bit of luck.

I totally forgot how much I wanted to be a jedi after seeing Phantom Menace! I was 9 at the time, I hadn't seen the others, it's allowed. I could totally build a lightsaber, I'm sure they use materials...

We wish, I have a 2 and a half year wait now before I can start at the academy though, unless I want to move to Auckland which is the other side of the country. I wait this out with my current job, stay fit and before I know it my training will start :D Auckland is our largest city, so they need more officers, but I want to stay local and help the city and people I've got to know in my 25 years on this planet.

I always wanted 3 things when I was a kid:
-to be a doctor
-to meet and marry a nice girl (I was oddly mature for my age)
-to own a fox as a pet

as for how I've done acheiving those goals
- I'm going to University for Nursing in the fall... That's a pretty good start towards Dr. ThatLankyBastard if i do say so myself
- I've met lots of nice girls, but none that are nice enough to consider marrying

Yes, you can totally buy them... Yeah, I didn't know either...

I'm just 7,000$ away... Hang on buddy, I'm coming...

...You can buy them. I... I... well, thanks for making me mentally set aside $7,000.

OT: Well, first I wanted to be a paleontologist. (Didn't happen.) Then I reconsidered and decided I wanted to be a starting quarterback on an NFL team. (Gender got in my way, alas.) And then I decided I wanted to be a writer. And... boom. I found one that stuck. One English degree later, my job isn't all writing, but it is part of it. And I write in my spare time as well.

I am on my way to fulfilling my childhood dream of being an author. I have the book, I just need the several thousand dollars to get the book copy-edited, get the image I want for the cover, publishing costs and marketing.

While I get that sorted out, I am currently working on a Star Wars novel, which should resolve the 'midichlorian problem', and another book about a super-hero becoming active in the world today...

Congrats OP!

I seem to have the job a lot of kids want to be (firefighter/paramedic) although I never wanted to do that myself as a child. It never occurred to me to do it for whatever reason, but I certainly love it now.

I had quite a few childhood dreams. First I wanted to be a plumber, because Mario was a plumber and Mario was my idol as a kid... thankfully since then I decided to set the bar a little higher.

For awhile I wanted to be a scientist, because scientists on TV looked cool, sadly I learned in High School that science requires one to be good at math, and although I do enjoy and understand science well enough, I'm not very good at math. So scientist is out. Although I have heard since then from a biologist friend of mine that after the first year or so of classes that you don't need to use math as much. I have yet to see if this is true, so in a few years I might return to college and see if I can't try for a science degree.

For a period in both Middle School and College I wanted to rule the world. In Middle School it was because I was just that average angry Middle Schooler who wanted to rule the world because I thought I could rule it better than anybody else. I grew out of that phase for a while though, but then in college I discovered the Civilization series and got back on the "conquer the world" train. I've since dropped that delusion... mostly.

As for right now... I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with the rest of my life. I've pretty much already graduated, so I know I should have this decided already, but I just haven't found anything that really calls to me. For right now I'm going to look for a job so I can start making a living and then see if maybe I can find my calling from there. I have my whole life ahead of me, I'm sure I have time to figure out what I want to do.

Congratulations though to you on completing your degree! Good luck inventing something awesome!

When i was young, i liked video games so i decided to become a games designer when i grow up, eventually the reality settled in and i switched an Magic Enthusiast of sorts as a hobby for the time being...but bad fine motor skills comes with me normally (can't even roll coins on my fingers or snap a card after long, extensive practice) eventually i wanted to be an artist....think i dropped out of College after about 3 or so years...

Think currently, the Artist dream seems to be dieing off...all those years of learning and my art is grotesque, even attempting to draw for /VP/ ended in disaster despite Pokemon generally having less emphasis on reality and more about whimsical shapes....shading, proportions and perspective is weird. (as is color and how a line should look...)

Following dreams is hard. ):

When I was a wee lad, I wanted to be an actor. Growing up, I career hopped between being a cop, going into the medical field, and going to culinary school to be a chef (among others), but I always retained the dream to be an actor. Unfortunately, while growing up, I never had the chance to get into acting due to all the other stuff I was doing.

In December, I finally got cast in my first play: Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing.... And I was magnificent! XD

Not quite attaining my dream, yet, but I'm off to a decent, if late, start.
