A Link to the Past.

Twilight Princess is second cause they made Link left handed, which is just wrong.
Wasn't he right handed in twilight princess and left handed in all the rest?
Actually he was left handed in the Gamecube version and right handed on the Wii so that right-handers could use the sword.
That makes sense. Chopping with your right and watching the in game character chop with his left would be a bit disorientating.

Wind Waker, partially because it has Darknuts, and partially because it's the first one I've successfully completed the 3-heart challenge on. If those weren't factors, it'd be OoT, no doubt.

It's a solid series, every Zelda game is good in its own way, but I have to go with Link's Awakening just because of the nostalgia. First Zelda game I played, and it had alot of atmosphere, something I missed in the other games.

Oh, and Wind Waker as a close second! That game was awesome.

Twilight Princess wins the prize in my books because the ending was so very emotional and there were 2 clawshots! Whazzah! those were fun. Second is a tie between OoT and Minish cap.

I liked Ocarina of Time cause it was fun and not as frustratingly hard as A Link To The Past. But one I've always loved is Link's Awakening.

Majora's Mask. It was the only Zelda with a significant thematic shift IMO. The rest of the gameplay tweaks that the series brought out just felt like gimmicks with the exceptiuon of Ocarina of Time's shift to 3D (but that was a well-donew shift in technology) and the second one's platforming/leveling bits.

Minish cap, proving once again that zelda should have remained top down forever.
Thisthisthisthis. I can't believe I ever lent that game to a friend. It was more precious than my copy of OoS.

Ha. Hahaha. HAHAHA.
Majora's Mask beats all of these easily. It is definately the [HEADING=1]best[/HEADING] of the series.

And seriously, I wouldn't say Twilight Princess is the best one....

I really love ocarina of time - the temples made you feel like the god of puzzles when you finished them.

Windwaker is also one of my favourites - the graphics are so gorgeous and the combat was great.

I really liked twilight princess as well. It had an eerie feel to the whole thing for me. Especially the twilight realms and the second of last temple. It had some solid dungeons and great minigames too.

I hope to buy majoras mask soon but i think the time mechanics might trip me up all the time so i'm a bit skeptical. I don't think i have the skills to beat it haha.

Wind Waker, because the exploration felt more genuine than with other games in the series, the visuals were awesome, and the controls were amazingly tight.

Oh man, that dungeon was awesome. The atmosphere was brilliant. Easily one of my favorite dungeons in the series.

And the time limit in Majora's Mask isn't as constrictive as you think. As you long as you play a specific song backwards to slow time down, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I'm going to go ahead and say Majora's Mask is my favorite. Go ahead, bring on the decelerations of insanity. While I'm at it I'll just copy and paste my Majora V.S. Ocarina rant from another thread.

Don't get me wrong Ocarina was incredible, but I thought there was something magical about Majora. Ocarina's Hyrule was a huge world to explore and I really enjoyed it, but to me it felt like butter spread over too much bread compared to Majora's Termina.

Majora's overworld had incredible detail for the time. Ocarina's over world had flat and lifeless NPCs that were generally nailed to the ground. Majora's NPCs however were incredible! They all had places to go and things to do and the game had countless little easter eggs relating to NPCs and they're dialogue. To this day I still find things every so often I didn't know about. (This is really saying something. I have 100% completion for this game.)

Another thing for me was story. No one can deny that even at the time neither Ocarina nor Majora were charting new ground in the story department. But Majora just had something magical about it. The usual quirky Nintendo presentation combined with the sense of dread and impending doom that permeated Majora created a game that had an atmosphere like no other. To this day I haven't experienced the same feeling of dread as the first time I reached the night of the third day. The moon is hovering so close you could touch it, the night sky is shot with an eerie red glow, the clock on your HUD ,which normally gives the the time and which day it is, turns into a timer that counts down to impact, and no matter where you go a piece of music called the The 11th Hour begins to play instead of the normal soundtrack. It still send chill's down my spine.

It saddens me greatly there are Zelda fans out there who can't appreciate Majora or still haven't played it.

Even though I've answered this question many times (on this site or otherwise), I feel like I always have a different answer. Today, it's Ocarina of Time because of the scene when you learn the Requiem of Spirit. It so nicely pulled everything together. And then, it's followed up by the most fun temple in the game (my opinion) with the best boss in the game (everyone's opinion).
