Zelda on the PC, Why not?

I'm a bit of a Zelda fan, and having had all my consoles spontaniously disappear in the last month or so, I started trawling the internet for a Zelda game on the pc.
Couldn't find one (If anyone knows of one, I'd be grateful of the name).

My question is, If Nintendo insist on re-releasing old names (like they just did with Ocarina Of Time) why can't they release it on better platforms for the ones of us who want the old games on our newer/more advanced systems (my opinion is that handhelds and the wii are designed generally for people under the age of... well, puberty I guess...)

I want to know if I'm the only one who'd like to see Nintendo do something like this.

*EDIT*

Okay, emulation it is then. (And for whoever it was, I'm too lazy to quote, I never meant in 3d, I meant the exact same game as we played on the older systems with relevant graphics updates (probably would only be more applicable to games on the n64 and up where you weren't limited to simple u/d/l/r movement))

And I know that it would give people no reason to buy Nintendo consoles, but at the same time, let's face it, most of them actually aren't very good anyway, I think it'd be good to see Nintendo focus on making good games rather than a new half-decent console every 18 months or so.

Problem is if they released it on other platforms you wouldn't need to buy their latest console every 2-3 weeks.

As long as Nintendo is making consoles, their IPs will stay on their consoles and on their consoles only. Plain and simple. Same reason we'll never see Halo on the Playstation. Or Killzone on the XBox. First party support is the biggest thing Nintendo consoles have going for them, and since the AAA industry and most game news websites tends to ignore the few hardcore that DO come out for the Wii that aren't made by Nintendo, their IPs are the biggest sellers.

Plus, the Wii has all the old Zelda games for download on the Virtual Console. That's why I didn't get the OoT remake. I have damn near every Zelda game downloaded on my Wii. I've been getting a lot of use out of the Wii for retro gaming lately to ride out the end of the summer while I wait for the flood of the big releases coming.

Emulators, no idea how far they are with wii now.
As for Nintendo providing an official option... you'd be better off wait for Zombie Jesus's fourth coming.

I take issue with the accuracy of that statement. This may be true with Apple, but let's take a look at Nintendo's hardware history:

NES: 1985-1991
Game Boy: 1989-1998
SNES: 1991-1996
Nintendo 64: 1996-2001
Game Boy Color: 1998-2001
GameCube: 2001-2006
Game Boy Advance: 2001-2005
Nintendo DS: 2005-2011
Wii: 2006-2012

So all of them have been pretty far apart in release, except for the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. I'm not a fanboy, I'm just sayin.

It's called marketing. You have to have a niche that will force people to buy your product. That's why stores have exclusive DLC now, to up their sales and why consoles have exclusives.

If Nintendo puts Zelda games on a PC or another console they'll lose their marketing niche and will lose massive sales on the console department. Should be noted that this is more true for Nintendo then any other company out there.
Sony and Msoft both have exclusives, but the console can live without them due to decent 3rd party support. Nintendo without it's exclusives is just a company with hardware innovations and bad 3rd party games, atleast the way it is now.

Petty point I realise but I doubt Zelda is designed to be limited to four directional movement as opposed to free movement. Apart from Four Swords etc. that is.

BECAUSE ITS SHIT!

Because Nintendo want their exclusives to themselves, of course.

How would a 3D Zelda even work on the PC? Seems like it would be better suited to a console anyway. Besides, there would be no reason for us to buy a Nintendo product if there were no games out for it.

You are missing multiple consoles from that list, regardless of the fact they are remakes of an existing model, they were still made, still marketed and still expected to be bought by consumers. Hell, I'm certain this does not even complete the list.

Game Boy Pocket 96
Game Boy Advance SP 03
Game Boy Micro 04 or 05?
and then...
Ds Lite 06
Dsi 08
Dsi XL 09
3D2 2011

Just sayin..

Because Nintendo doesnt like to release outside its consoles (particularly its major franchises) without massive incentive (editting this out).

Its something about that little sticker thing on their games and how they got screwed in the past because of something, so now they just dont bother.

Besides, if I remember correctly, in the past there were <url=http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Link:_The_Faces_of_Evil>were <url=http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Zelda:_The_Wand_of_GamelonZelda>some <url=http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Zelda%27s_Adventure>games on another <url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD-i>console

It didnt go well, and gave the excuse to do, well, <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPxY8lpYAUM>this

No, forget making Zelda on the PC. You know what needs to be done? Zelda made Free-To-Play. Yeah. The old Zelda games should be available for free along with Super Mario Bros. and Metroid. All for absolutely free or sold for at least a dollar.

I don't expect Nintendo to survive if they think that selling 20 year old Nintendo games for five to seven dollars is a sound business strategy in an age where I'm able to download five to seven games for a dollar on the App Store. You want to introduce more people to your IP, Nintendo? You do just that and people will immediately begin to take notice of your most famous IPs. I can guarantee that swarms of new consumers that ordinarily would never have played a traditional Nintendo game will come swarming in by the truckload, and a whole lot of them will inevitably be playing Skyward Sword or Mario Galaxy.
