Great review for a great game. I loved all of the Jak & Daxter games (except for The Lost Frontier, which I haven't played). Jak X was probably the worst, mainly cause it had such few cutscenes. We want jokes, dammit!
Also, the flying isn't necessarily limited. If you use the Unlimited Light Jak cheat, and switch constantly between flying and the shield, you ascend on each go. It's clunky and not meant to be used, but it's fun when you have problems reaching certain places.
And with games like Jak 2 and 3, Chrono Trigger and the Ratchet & Clank series, I'll always be thankful for the cathartic "New Game +" function. To start the game over, only with every upgrade and weapon, is so damn fun. Killing all frustrating bosses without a sweat drop.
