Yahtzee isn't a sacred cow fellas. In fact, the new show on the escapist (which I loved by the way), started as an unabashed Yahtzee homage on youtube as well. Zero Originality answers a lot of common questions about Gamestop and what it's like to work there.

There are a number of imitations (remember the blue background ones on Youtube? Not exactly a subtle rip-off). It's not even a terribly original format (funny words, funny images, who'dathunk?) but ZP is consistent and novel and so for those who like it, it doesn't get old fast.

Still, the internet thrives on self-reference, parody, imitation and replication, so all good. :)
That all happened before the internet, it was just a lot slower and had fewer pages that turned out to be Goatse.

Especially back before cameras were invented and every goatse had to be drawn by hand - the poor monks who were tasked with drawing them were said to have gone blind from the effort..

Why would you want to imitate ZP anyway? Sure he has plenty of viewers, but he's bitter and hates practically any game that doesn't fit his preconceived notion of perfection, which is basically every game, except for Portal.

That's pretty good, I have to remember that one. I can see them now all in rows, flickering candles and the scratch of quills, squinting hard as they work to recreate what they see. Then a scream as one of the brothers comes to a Goatse.

He is a critic, he provides critique... That's what he does...

I wonder if Yahtzee's going to incinerate this guy in a video... with words... Hope so.

I like Zero Punctuation for the same reason most people probably dislike it. If someone really likes a game and Yahtzee gives it a bad review, there's around a 45% chance they'll get mad about it and try to prove him wrong. However, I know I'm definitely not the only one, I find it funny when he gives a game I like a bad review. Sure, I don't truly believe MOST of what he says, but I find it funny when he makes a good joke and visual pun about my favorite games. The animation is comical, and the videos usually find a way to brighten up my day.

Sorry if I got little off topic there, but I had to give my random opinion.

At least he admits he has zero originality......

I hope the video runs out at the 5 minute mark and the rest is just blank.

To critique is to point out the flaws on something. He hates any game that isn't the second coming of Christ. If you haven't liked any game since Portal, then it's pretty hard to consider someone a video game fan, even considering difference in opinion.

Er...I appreciate the concept, and frankly I whole-heartedly support the demise of the loathsome GameStop, but man...this guy needs a few diction lessons.
You took the words right out of my mouth.

Maybe its just where i live, but hte gamestop there is really good. i mean, i know half the staff, but also they are really good to people and customers. tehy never had a complaint, and anytime tehy host a competition or release a game, they order pizza for everyone and gum and other stuff to hand out while you wait, so you;re never really in discomfort. one day they went so far as to set up heaters outside cause it was cold and snowy.

like i said, maybe its management there, but tehy are really good to their customers.

This is actually surprisingly informative. Though he doesn't count in younger gamers who if their going to buy online have to use their parent's credit/debit card. Then again, if the kid is older (i'm fifteen) handing over a piece of plastic and taking in 60 dollars in cash might be a bit less work on both parts.

Or he criticises them in a five minute chunk. You do know that the world isn't the same for a critic as for a consumer, right? He doesn't play one game and he's done for the week, just like movie bob doesn't just watch a movie. They have to partake heavily of their medium and then pick it apart with every tool at their disposal. This would be awesome if you were always playing God of War but you're not, you're playing garbage and you have to keep playing it.
