Yahtzee sounded really sort of angry in this one. I think something about Agents of Mayhem really got hits goat.

Nice use of the Microlino [https://www.treehugger.com/cars/microlino-electric-reincarnation-isetta.html] to represent the game's cars. I had not heard of it before now, and decided to do a bit of digging to find out what it was.

Also, nice job baiting the forum with that Tracer comment. Escapists are so predictable. I'd reach for the popcorn, but I really don't plan on dropping back in until next week.

"*shrug*" "reach for the popcorn"
Can't believe people still say things like this and not realize it makes them look so incredibly lame. All we're missing is someone going "flame shields up."

Instead of arguing about the sexual orientation of a character people with lives outside their homes wouldn't give the slightest care about, why not argue about how Yahtzee didn't mention the connection between Agents of Mayhem and the rest of the Saints Row games.

He did. Or rather, he didn't seem to actually know because he's the kind of guy that in 95% of his game doesn't bother to remember the actual story beyond writing and editing the review - and even then, it's somewhat sloppy more often than not.

This game sounds boring.

Also Tracer's a lesbian? Ok, three questions,
1. Who decided that?
2. Does it actually effect anything?
3. Who the hell is Tracer?
1. Blizzard's Overwatch christmas comic of Tracer making out with her Girlfriend. Though you could question the canonical nature of it considering she's not wearing her chronal bullshit device that's meant to keep her alive and not ripped across space time or something.

2. It makes that one moment in the Tracer x Widowmaker short a bit more weird/hot/questionable. Otherwise she gets a buff in Overwatch where she can hear other female player characters footsteps more prominently then male ones (no she doesn't, it was largely done because Kaplan's team like fucking with people).

3. The Orange Jumpsuit Time Suicidal Overwatch chick who's butt was deemed too offensive at a certain angle that it had to be made curvier to appease the single person complaining about it.

She doesn't need to wear it, just needs to be nearby.

It's sitting in the corner plugged into some kind of charger in that scene.

The reason why LGBT characters are so tricky to pull off is thanks to stuff like Korrasami, you can have a popular or LGBT character, but not both.

And by popular I mean the average gamer who flips their lids at any attempts at diversity of any kind unless it is through the weeaboo filter.

The reason LGBT characters are tricky to get is because there's very little subtlety to them. They're either tropes or hammy. Really, I prefer when the sexuality of the character is left as a blank space for me to fill in. How can you tell a gay or lesbian from anyone else ... you really can't beyond showing them making out with someone else. Beyond that they are more or mless the same as everyone else.

It's sorta the problem. They are conceptualized as the gay character. They are not allowed to be actual characters. This is one of the things Steven Ubniverse both does well and does atrociously. It did it well in the first season or so but in the later seasons they are like constantly beating you over the head with it.

Instead, it's sitting in the background, allowing her to do stuff normally without having to wear it all the time. Or rather a slightly larger version of it. It's seen again later when she's visiting Winston. She goes there with the Accelarator on and inside, she's not wearing it but a larger version is, again, sitting in the background.
So, not only is the comic (and the relationship) canon, they also explained why Tracer doesn't need to wear the Accelerator all the time WITHOUT having to specifically mention it.

I watched a couple gameplay vids and if that place is supposed to be Seoul, it needs a hellova lot more dangerous traffic and awkwardly passed out salarymen who drank too much soju at their business dinner the night before.

It's just one guy loudly informing us that he doesn't care. Known also as the regular course of events.

OT: Fun episode about a game I knew nothing about.

The game looks a bit crap and I'm wondering why people are being so kind to it, as if it were any other developer that didn't happen to throw in some sly callbacks to a better series of theirs, it would have been torn to shreds. All gameplay I've seen looks so vapid, everything about it is vapid, unfinished and deploying the shallowest of character tropes. It looks shoveled out the door after losing faith in whatever the original plan was, with some nostalgia bait references slapped on to fool customers they're having more fun than they are.

Shoulda gone with G.I Row Yahtzee, missed opportunity.
Sounds even more like I'm one of the minority: I've loved the Saint's Row series. G.I. Row will likely get a buy from me ASAP.

Reminds me of that time one of the recent Mortal Kombat games announced one of its new characters was gay, and I thought "And? Does that have any effect on how he fights? This is a fighting game, after all."
Mortal Kombat has a story mode though. And it does come up in there. He became a thief instead of a ninja monk world defender guy because he thought (apparently incorrectly) they wouldn't accept him. Which does come up in the story kind of tangentially, and presumably is also why he uses a bow instead of the straight martial arts the other monk characters do.

Though I don't think that every LGBT or other minority character needs to have their narrative affected by it. If there was a constant stream of gay characters all with the "ostracized, came back and proved to everyone they belonged" narrative, it'd be as ludicrous as the barrage of "mystical nature dude wise man" Indigenous characters.

It's funny how people complain when characters are mentioned as being gay, yet don't give a damn when they're straight. I can guarantee you that if Tracer was straight, the Internet wouldn't have exploded over the comic. I mean, for Christ's sake, you could take the comic, change Emily's gender, and you wouldn't have to change a single line of dialogue to keep the same story.

But then again, I suppose it's forcing the "gay agenda," so yay for keeping marriage between Adam and Eve rather than Adam and Steve. Or something.
