I knew he would love this game as much as I do :D It's just a no nonsense awesome time wasting killing of zombies. Also somewhere there is a plot but WHO CARES!

A game I liked that yahtzee like other than the orange box? Is the world ending?

Anyways, the best combo in the game is bowie knife and boxing gloves. That was my sledge hammer-fire axe combo.

What I find funny about this is that you can get the ghost and ghouls armor in DR2. Chest is Rank s ending, beard is in the back of a store, boots are for 2 million, and the helmet is won in a game of good old fashioned strip poker. It reduces 50% damage after it you get all armor, and regenerates the armor health as well. Best part is when the armor breaks you are left in your white boxers with hearts on them :D

Dead Rising 2 was too easy. Once you get the knife gloves, the game might as well end right there, because it takes large chunks of health away from a boss with each hit, swipes really fast and decimates zombies with an above average AoE.

The Defiler attacked far too slowly for my liking, and the Paddle Saw (Chuck's signature weapon) wasn't nearly as good as it was cracked up to be.

Great review per usual but not into zombie games since they are overdone in games, movies, tv or whatever so going to have to skip this one

I keep seeing a lot of complaints about the time limit. People do realize that it can be completely ignored in favor of whatever you want right? That is one of my favorite things about both Dead Rising games. You can completely decide how you want the game to play out, rescue all the survivors, focus on the storyline, or just kill everything in sight. And the time limit allowed the world to feel like it was alive, since events happened whether you were around to witness them or not.
I think people are used to playing through a game once... maybe twice if they can choose between good and evil paths. Structuring a game where you can not possibly do everything in a single playthrough is at odds with how 99.9999% of video games do things these days.

I still haven't gotten around to playing the first game, but I confess to finding the time limit strangely intimidating despite knowing that you can do whatever.

The concept spoke to my thoroughly. The escort questions and time limit... not so much...

I'm still debating whether or not it's worth my money, but I will definitely keep it on my radar.

I want a game that is just about killing hordes of zombies.

No time limit, no sick daughter, maybe a few boss fights, but overall just you, some meat cleavers, hundreds of zombies, and the simple objective of "Go nuts"
The Dishwasher on XBLA pretty much sums this up but it also has federal agents and ninjas if ur ok with that too

What the...?

You have to pay people to escort them?
Reminds me of classic RPG scenario
"Save us from the dragon!"
"Oh, okay, but I need a sword."
"That'll be 1000 gold."
"Wait, but the village will be destroyed..."
"1000 gold."
"You've doomed us all."
"1000 gold!"
