PFFF, HAHAHA! Good freaking point. I admit, the game lost 100,000,000 points with me right after learning you couldn't play as Bill Murray. Not that it would make a huge difference if you could. Maybe a multiplayer addon would make that possible?

I had an inkling it might be this. Brilliant work as always.
No shit sherlock he said it in the last review (which on another note I hate and think he should stop doing) by saying the game was late and making jokes about his future self already playing/reviewing this game It's just a give away and I like it more when It's a surprise

Anyway I loved the comparison with the pig and the ... ye u know :D
I'll check over it for you next time ;) I do however, notice a few others mentioning the same. But yes, I do prefer the surprises as I obviously thought it was one. Dur on me.

The pig thing was funny though.

I, for one, must respectfully disagree with Yatzee, and it's not often that I do.

He is comparing Ghostbusters to GOW2, and thats a little unfair. My question for Yatzee is : Name a better movie based video game license.

(yes, thats a dangerous question to ask, as I might not be thinking of that "perfect" game readily. But no, Spiderman 2 doesn't count, as the "fun" in that game is swinging between buildings, the movie tied elements sucks. The first Riddick isn't bad, but it doesn't feel like a tie in either, it feels like a separate game with a Vin Diesel model.)

Everything in that review feels like Yaztee didn't actually play Ghostbusters. Slimer? He appears ONLY in the tutorial, why even mention him seeing as the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is in the scene right after Slimer? I mean, he is right there at the start, and HE SUCKS! Yatzee didn't even lampoon him at all. Crossing the stream? Common, I must have died like twice in the whole game because of this, it's not an issue. To much stuff going on? The other Ghostbusters aren't event there for half of the game, and when they are, it's rarely all of them. And the "chaos" isn't worse than when playing multiplayer either. Trapping ghosts? It IS Ghostbusters we are talking about, right? What the hell is wrong with trapping ghosts? To many traps? How about just laying down your trap at the start of a fight? The computer won't lay his down if you do. And the "having to trap ghosts over and over again problem" is gone by stage 2 or 3... Only the larger battles require it after the 1st level, because new kind of enemies are introduced (possessed stuff that do not require trapping)

His review sounds like it was written by someone who was told what the game is about, but who didn't actually play the game, or who was too busy writing "funny" material while playing.

IMHO, Ghostbuster is the perfect movie tied in games, plain and simple. A "new" adventure, not a recreation of the events seen in a movie, characters and humor that you recognize, even if you didn't watch the movie for 20 years. Ghostbusters : The Game feels more like a movie spin off novel than a game, just like it should be.

Yaztee is (more and more) comparing games to what he thinks are perfect games, instead of just judging games at face value, and while I understand that I could go to other elsewhere to read a "positive" review, and that Yatzee's shticks is funny ranting, sometime it seems that he rant just because it pays the rent.

/No, I don't work or have affiliation for whoever makes that game.

EDIT : I have to say something : The game isn't perfect, and it's not the best 3rd person shooter ever either. The stone angels were retarded, and you spend way to much time healing the computer AI (that part is right). The "scary" bits aren't scary, but neither was Ghostbusters, and the story is a little clichee (It's like a mashup of GB 1 and 2, and they don't even try to hide it). Still, I stand behind my opinion above :)

You know I love your work yahtzee, and I'm not a huge ghostbusters fan, but I can't agree with you on it. I found it to be an enjoyable experience even being far from a fanboy of any actor or movie. Thanks for the entertainment, but the game was good.

*gasp* another negative review? you dont say? Meh I dunno, the game didn't seem that bad in the little I played of it the other day, the lines were cheesy, but the good kind of cheesy that makes you laugh, not the kind that makes you feel embarrassed. The combat makes sense, and they added different firing modes and ways of managing enemies, you can scan ghosts and use that tracker device all adding to the feel of the movie. The scenes though linked to the movies were fun, and really bring you back to when Ghostbusters was king, but whatever I say play it for yourself potential buyers. Of course I never take your reviews seriously, just like you never read these posts, but its still funny and that's all I really care about.
Wow, it's reassuring to see there are others who share my opinion. I don't take them seriously at all either, but I did feel this review was hyper critical and petty by normal standerds (as I wrote about earlier on this page). It's refreshing to see constructive comments like this, even if Yahtzee will never ever read them. That's why I tend to write them with Yahtzee in the third person.
Haha Well i dont often post here because I figure even if i dislike the review (which happens a bit) I still enjoy the "skit" I just commented on this one because I thinks its unfair to down a game that is actually rather decent and could use a boost, i mean this is how movie games should run, be there own thing, but take attention to detail, and do it for the fans

English is a second language for me, so writing reviews is exposing myself to too many Grammar Nazies. Beside, I prefer gaming diaries to reviews. Yaztee is probably the only reviewers that I "follow", I usually prefer to go to meta rating sites.

I didnt expect this game to be bad like that. Oh well, least now i know.
It's not.

Yatzee went a little overboard with this one IMHO...
Yeah well, no one knows until they play the game right? Because everyone has their own opinion :)

True, but not everyone as a popular platform to share those opinions. Will EricKINGS come to his own conclusions by trying the game? It would be a shame if he didn't because of this review.

I never really gave two shits about Ghostbusters before the game and even less after hearing the reviews (this and others) I think Yathzee puts fanboyism aside and looks at the game as a game and not part of a marketing scheme (like pretty much all movie tie in games are, even though this one is a few decades late).

The positive reviews are draped in reffrences only fans seem to get which won't lure in people like me, and when it gets to actual gameplay it's average. Most reviews I've read for it say the game will pass, but I don't really want to spend money on games that only "pass."

Rather jarring how frequently the subject of fellatio came up during this video - if you watch the video and keep a count the number of times on your hands, you may well run out of fingers by the time four minutes are up. That it happened so frequently is pretty bad taste and not very funny. I can only guess the mental association was deeply implanted on Yahtzee's mind after sitting down to play a game that involved so much sucking with particle packs and ghost traps.

Further, I'm not exactly sure of consequence he said about the game except:
  • [li]The control scheme was hard.[/li]
[li]The IP (and consequently all the supporting things in the game that supported that IP) annoyed me.[/li]
I mean, come on, give me a better reason to dislike the game than it's hard and I don't like Ghostbusters.

Not really his best work, all things considered. This video will probably live on as the official tape-leg [http://hrwiki.org/wiki/tape-leg#Fast_Forward] of Zero Punctuation.
