Funny review as always. I liked the Dogbaby part. xD

Does the Wii really have a controller like that though? o.o
Yep. The Wii Classic Controller (as it's called) has been out for about as long as the Wii itself, and it's quite effective for Virtual Console games and others. I'm sure Aura has probably used one.

OT: Well, this was an entertaining show, to say the least. I actually like the grind like that, so I still have an interest in the game. I'll give it a rental still, but I'll keep your words in mind.
You called? And yes I do own it.
I figured that you had a Classic Controller and have used one, so you got a mention. I have yet to play a game with it yet, myself.

Thank you for confirming my fears of what this game would be when I chose to buy an older game proven to be more interesting

In actuality, I always thought that the game splitting into multiple areas was a delibrate design choice, Hell the JP only PC Monster Hunter still has them.

Just look at Crystal Bearers for a moment. The game is a completely seamless world without loading times and still managed to look fantastic. So yeah to those saying the loading times exist because the Wii's apparent lack of technical processing power are so very mistaken. I can guarentee that if the game came out on the PS3/360 instead of the Wii, it would of been exactly the same with the loading screens being there completely intact. Just my 2 cents

Are people really basing their opinions of this game based on Yahtzee playing an hour and a half of the game?
Yeah pretty much

...Ok sure I'm not one of those retards who try to justify how GAME X has no flaw and every negative little thing that is pointed out adds to my retard strength, can Monster Hunter be tedious, hell yes, but the fact that he never actually discussed any positives irks me a little, will I buy a plane ticket to Australia to burn down his home, no, but I will say that you should not base YOUR opinion on something due to what some guy who you'll never meet in RL says! As far as multiplayer is concerned (Yes Yathzee I know you don't give a shit about multiplayer) but those who do should know that this game has a GOOD multiplayer.

Yahtzee, why do you review shitty games nobody cares about?
It's got an 8.5 on metacritic and it was the number one board on GameFAQs for about two months before RDR stepped up, and it's still at number three below the Xbox and PS3 versions of that, and it has pretty massive sales numbers, and it comes from a series that's incredibly well loved in Japan and has a strong following in the US due to MHFU.

The only way it would be a game nobody cared about was if you'd never touched a PSP, PS2, or a Wii, because the MH series has been huge on all of those.

Oddly enough, most of the stuff he mentioned are aspects of games I don't mind at all.

Funny review, to be sure, but I'm still interested in the game.

I got 2 reg and 2 pro. Dissappointed with the Pro because it's not Gamecube compatible and my Wavebird is the only working Gamecube controller I have left.

Yeah, the loading screens are mostly there for two reasons:

One: Preventing draw distance issues. Monster Hunter manages to have none of these, which is actually pretty cool for a Wii game with good graphics and a lot going on (for a wii game, anyway).

Two: Splitting up areas so that you can escape the boss monster(s). Basically, as Yahtzee would have noticed had he gotten to an actual boss monster, the areas serve more as ways of saying "Leave this area, the boss won't chase you so you can heal up" or "The boss is leaving the area, he must be getting weaker," while in a seamless world, it would be a lot harder, plus the "boss leaving the area" part would become "boss is limping away, let's wail on him until he dies" which wouldn't be all that fun.

this game sounds horrible. Brilliant review as always Yahtzee
It's not that bad, just from his review I can tell he didn't even get past the tutorial. He didn't mention the gigantic monsters you fight... Very disapointing.

All the MH fans are dissapointed at the review because it seems he played the first half of the 1* missions and stopped. I know he hated these types of games, but he could have played more.

Pretty nice parody as always, but i think he never got to play against the bigger monsters, which are the best part of the game.

And yes, online is a blast.

I played Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on my PSP.

I just really thought it was...not good. For me at least.

Can I see where people would like it. Sure. But it just wasn't for me. :\

And yeah all the games seem to have a looooong time to get going from what I've seen of the other versions. And that's part of what threw me off was that long start up time. I shouldn't have to grind and wallow in suck to get to the parts that I actually play games for.

Finally! Thank you for reviewing it!
I knew you weren?t going to like it, and you wouldn?t get to fight the big stuff. I just wanted to hear you complaining like everyone who lacks patience.

I have around 350 hours of gameplay in MHFU (PSP) and I still love it to death, but I wouldn?t touch a MMORPG even if my life depended on it.

Well, that might be the reason. I am a civilized man, whose brain works properly, so i know how to use mouse and keyboard. I dont need to use the microwave oven sold by Sony as PS2.

I bought MH3 on release day here in the US and I played the crap out of it for about a week. Then I noticed I wasn't having any fun playing it. No, I didn't go online to play it because I don't like multiplayer at all in games. I kept chugging at it at guess what? It still wasn't fun. So I took it to a store and traded it for Super Mario Galaxy and Saints Row 2 and had fun playing those.

There are too many games and not enough hours in our lives to waste time on games we don't find fun. If you like MH3, great! Just don't tell people that don't like it that they're missing the point or are wrong in what they find fun.
