I'm still willing to give the PS4 the benefit of the doubt, partially because it's not pulling all of the shit that the Xbone is, and partially because I actually like the concept of a share button, because I'm the type of person who wouldn't mind jumping into a friends game and talking to them while they play, maybe looking away a little to type something up on my lap top. Besides, even if you don't want to do it, it's not like the PS4 holds you hostage and forces you to do it.
PS4 is only looking better because Adam Orth didn't work for Sony. That guy single-handedly made MS talk about all the nasty stuff they were probably going to ignore. Sony has the luxury of staying quiet, and to go ahead and do the same things MS is.

Mind you I hope they don't, and think the whole spirit of competition should be trying to offer a product that is preferred by the consumers, rather than doing the same things that someone else is getting away with because "that's the way things are now, deal with it".
Yeah, but didn't Sony say that there wouldn't be any DRM or used game fees or any of the other stuff that made the Xbone so laughable?

Usually when a next gen console comes along it's all about the new features. This gen it's been all about the limitations. This is how we know that consoles are dying.

They have not, no. They have said that they will allow used games, but I believe were sketchy about the where-tos and the wither-fors. I don't believe they've said anything about DRM.

I thought Yahtzee would be excited for a new Infamous seeing how he loved the previous games.
Did you miss that part at the end where an exclusive title may pressure him to buy a game?

OT: I'm with Yahtzee -- I have no real urge to buy any next-gen consoles. I'd rather get a Vita and enjoy all the PSN games it will get from both the PS3's present PSN and inevitably the PS4's PSN.

I think they said they would leave it up to publishers.

You know i was getting really depressed about all the bad news concerning this new console generation, then i remembered that i'm a member of the glorious pc gaming master race so none of this affects me and steam will have half way decent ports of all the exclusive games out and on sale by years end so what do i care?

Also i now really want to play a game of Texan Holdem where every turn people get more black mana. Imagine how much fun poker would be if you could summon zombies in the middle of it?

Words cannot describe how much I agree with Yahtzee's position in this video. I'm not judging console gamers, but I'm personally quite glad that I invested in a good gaming PC

I try to avoid being pessimistic. But it is difficult to get excited for the coming generation as it stands now. Here's hoping E3 turns out fun!
yh E3 really needs to do wonders especiall for the Xbox, i know i will be getting Wii U at some point (next Zelda/Metroid most likely) but the Xbox is in bad shape. having said that Microsoft does have more IPs i like compared to the PS4

A while ago, people said their console was great because it had X featured and Y games.

This time, even the fanboys fight the console wars by saying that their console doesn't have crappy feature XY. It's...fascinating.

Yeah, I have to go with "Don't" here. The only even remotely interesting console is the Wii U for me - but without games, that's useless. Especially since I won't play the next Metroid unless at least four friends have confirmed that this Metroid isn't a sexist pile of garbage that tries to murder my childhood with ideals that would have been laughed out of a 1960's men's club for being too sexist. Gosh, I hate OtherM. Very few games hate their protagonist so much that said protagonist isn't even the hero of their own story.

I would very much like it if I could switch to PC gaming, but unfortunately any electronic device I cant use without physically touching it seems to die very quickly...keys stop working, software very quickly degrades and then they overheat and explode.

So I will probably hold out for as long as possible re-playing old games, then bite the bullet and buy whichever console has the least awful selection of games at the time.

What has console gaming come to?

This is so true, the best we can do this gen is say "well my soup doesn't have green shit in it and yours does". That's sad.

Welcome back kids to another edition of "New Generation Hatred", a joyous occasion where the next generation is hated because it seems different than the old one. Then a bunch of people will buy it, it'll slowly faze out the majority of the old consoles, and everyone will get used to it and forget they hated it because there are other things to complain about. Then the next series will be announced and lo the cycle will start anew.

I actually think the PS4 is looking pretty good. Got better hardware to make bigger games and its structure has changed to make it easier to develop for. Heck, sony is even putting there best effort to get more indie games on there and they seem to be really trying to do good this generation. Plus whats so wrong with an optional share button? Its related to gaming and its kinda cool

I think he should have addressed the backwards compatibility issues in this (as not everyone reads Extra Punctuation or watches Rhymedown).

Sony shows some good games (Maybe a certain guardian, a guardian that's the last of his kind maybe) I'll buy one.
I swear, it's only gonna take one more year for that game to get vaporware status.

Nice strawman. In fact I dislike it because it's nothing, it's not too samey or too different, it's nothing.

Every console previously has offered something more, not less.

Wake me after the crash. I figure after the video game industry finishes shitting its kidneys out from the massive enema it's desperate needing, we'll finally be able to get back to simplicity where we actually obtain the one thing we've always wanted most from the video game industry, decent games for a decent price without all the bullshit.

I'll just do what I always do. Fold my arms and wait for something I'd actually play to come out, then make the choice based on what I know of the console by that point. I've never had any real console loyalty, I just go with whatever looks good at the time of buying. Right now I'm sort of edging away from the Xbox One and the WiiU is not something I have any interest in, so Sony will probably be back to taking my money after a long pause.

That being said, it'll be a good while before I even touch those things...mostly until I know what the next Dark Souls game will be on.

Believe it or not, there was once a time when people were looking forward to the next generation. It's just that lately, far too much BS has been added to the mix.

This is kinda where I'm at. I still only have one current gen console- a 360. I have no reason to get a xbox one or PS4. Maybe im in the minority on this one, but I don't think the current gen is done with. I see no reason for a whole new gen of consoles!
