I have a question: when do we get emulators for this system?

Perhaps a better question would be: will anyone think the system is worth emulating?

With the current launch titles, I'm leaning heavily towards "no".

In other news, I was never a fan of Nintendo (I felt their last real attempt at something resembling a console stopped at the GameCube and the last good game came out on the N64) so nothing really new here.

Will it be successful? Probably. I've not yet seen a Nintendo console flop - 'specially when it comes to handheld ones - just some take a while before there's a following, and then they can push shovelware and one or two worthy titles down it until they feel like rehashing it smaller, then with a camera, then bigger.

I only got a DS lite 3 years ago, and I really don't feel like upgrading yet. Nice to know it won't be necessary, unless those Shin Megami Tensei games turn out to be particularly good.

One of his worst videos in my opinion. I found the humor to be very dry, and I wound up stopping the video about halfway through due to boredom.

Hopefully Yahtzee can redeem himself next week with Portal 2...
...Or what? You're going to boycott him forever because of one episode you didn't like? Fickle ain't ya?

What business is it of yours even if I did? I hate when people make ridiculous assumptions...

c'mon nintendo ...

I have a 3DS, and the only thing I want for it (as opposed to for a DS) is pokemon.
Hurlin' those pocket monsters right onto someone else's lap, augmented reality style, on the train.

None at all. It was an educated guess based on the wording of your post. And judging by your obviously agressive reaction to mine, i'm safe to assume you'd do it too. If he scorned a game you liked too much.

Life's too short to get upset over something like a video game, or a game console, or which footy team is better. Just laugh at the funny fast-talking man and get over it.

Nevermind the motion control, I've been asking "who holds a handheld completely still" ever since this thing was announced. I thought the point of a handheld was being able to play it out and about, barring that I know I absently shift position alot while playing my DS Lite.

Well, your "educated guess" was completely incorrect.

I had absolutely no interest in the 3DS. I just went with one of the 25th anniversary editions of the XL because it was nice and red, with a bigger screen.

Hilarious video, especially the end part about the chairs. Hah.

"If there isn't a law against this civilisation has failed"- Definitely one of Yahtzee's funniest lines, just as much for it's delivery as it's meaning.

@Nate-ndo

It strikes me as being a bit contradictory to refer to someone as a "fanboy," and then name yourself Nate-ndo. Just saying.

My name is Nate; doesn't really combine with Microsoft or Sony in any quasi-clever manner, eh?

That said, which type of fanboy is worse? The one who likes something no matter what, or the one who trashes something, no matter what?

Hoi, Y-lovers & Y-haters, you do know that your most favourite\abhorred internet celebrity is also doing the Escapist Podcast [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escapist-podcast]. Just thought I'd tell you.

Chill, White Knight! A handheld is only as desirable as its games library -- when 3DS gets more interesting games people will take interest, even if there's substantial proof of it causing brain tumours.

I wonder if Microsoft decided to give (sell) Rare back to Nintendo, and if that would cause some creative explosion that propelled Nintendo to do something other than rehash with one hand while tantalizing the crowd with some "twist" using the other. The games sound like such a throw-back to the N64 that they're basically saying "Look, that was the best it ever got, so deal with it."
You do know that Rare's most recent game is Kinect Sports, right?
When I say creative explosion, I mean just that: Some universe, space-time-continuum bending phenomenon that makes Rare somehow good again by being with Nintendo, like the days long ago.

But yeah, right now Rare is like a pathetic, shell of a joke that you feel too guilty about laughing at afterwards with the garbage they've been producing for Microsoft. Mii-Avatars, especially. Something is dreadfully wrong if they managed to muck up Banjo Kazooie, that is for sure.

In my opinion, 3D Paper Mario sounds like a genius idea. You said it yourself in Kill Zone 3 that 3D in games looks more like a puppet show then anything, so why not paper puppets?

I can't even tell you how disappointed I am, that it is physically impossible for me to agree more to every single sentiment put forth in this video.

Motion controllers = rubbish
Current "3D" technology = rubbish

Yahtzee brought it up in a different episode as well.
They are supposed to make the gap between thought and reaction smaller. The goal is that you're supposed to be able to just think what you want your character to do and they'll do it. But instead you now have to get up and run around your coffee table for half an hour flailing your arms like a lunatic.

LUNAR LANDER REFERENCE FTW. Back as a wee lad around 1990 I got the chance to play that shit at the Exploratorium in SF. Also, quite an hilarious episode. You've done it again Yahtzee--a true master hater.

Anyone else around here old enough to remember the Commodore 64?

The person who likes something indiscriminately is evolutionarily dim-witted by being less adept at survival. The skeptic is inherently more wary and cautious in dealing with the unknown, and immune to hype. The indiscriminate hater, while being obnoxious and annoying, is at least less likely to be manipulated or sold something sub-consciously (i.e. hype) than the guy with limitless faith in a product line or company. Drooling fanboy retards make up the major demographic Halo/CoD are advertised to. I play BC2 and that community too is filled with the irritatingly dumb. I also feel like an idiot for buying it before the myriad (no, NOT "myriad of") bugs and issues were brought to light by the community post-launch. I loved 1942 and 2142 and overlooked DICE's tendency to leave buggy games mostly unfixed.

On another note, 3D is shitty fucking shit. I tried it on a PS3 at Fry's and was beginning to suffer a headache within 10 seconds; it also looked hideous and did nothing to increase immersion. The boondoggle that is 3D has somehow managed to produce even worse results than what has been borne of the motion control craze.

I play games to relax. I go hoop or hit the trails on my bike to exercise. And I don't fuck with consoles!
