Zero Punctuation: Prototype

My opinion is thus :

Schadenfruede is the only reason nearly any of us play sandbox games.
Just the same as the amount of people we can reduce to pulp with bullets is the reason we play FPS(es)

in the InFamous demo i played, I spent as much time as I could zapping civilians, throwing cars around with electro-shockwaves, blowing up gas stations (well, the one gas station) and generally being a dick.
Especially when you can shock a snivelling, pleading old woman halfway down the street, shock her, heal her, shock her to death (again), blow up her corpse with an "electrobomb" (that somehow hurts you, even though it's ELECTRICITY, Cole's new bestest buddy evrar) then suck the life out of anyone nearly killed by that blast. Or trap someone who was nearly killed by the blast. The use varieties of electro killing for the ultimate teabag.

Anyway, my point being, is that you can kill people in numerous flavours of zappy zappy in InFamous, and itt's great fun, but lacking variety. In Prototype, however, you can do the following:
Whips
Blades
Guns
Tanks
Helicopters
Smashy smashy big fists
Superpowered Wresling moves
Consuming
Bodyboarding the way a skateboarder would skateboard.
Spikes from the floor
Explosives
Tricking soldiers into killing their mates.
Probably others too

In other words, I really, really, want Prototype. Just so you can kill people using the following:

Whips
Blades
Guns
Tanks....

You get the idea

EDIT: Oh, and I want to consume/eat then become a pimp, or guy with a hat too

rpxadair: Prototype had its teaser article in Game Informer in August of 07 and it was being worked on a good deal of time before that. So to be safe, Yahtzee would have needed to have his idea in 06 to be ahead.

Wow, I thought Yahtzee would go for inFamous over Prototype. But I think he's right in hat neither game can claim to be decisvely better than the other. They're both flawed, but I think Prototype has more challenge to it in the longer term.

I think it is one of those Niche type of things. If you want variety of plot/events, go for InFamous (assuming you have a PS3.) If you want to kill things horribly and do a bit of investigating to learn all the plot, play Prototype. They both could get better with a bit of mingling of concept from each other...

And that last sentence is all but summoning yaoi... Kill me now or later or just give me a stern reprimand.

web of intrigue is a ORIGINAL and a fucking brilliant concept.

yahtzee is dead wrong on the combat. the whipfist does shitty damage against tank + other heavy enemies and is used mostly for sweeping a cluster of small troops, and what is he talking about never using objects against your enemies??? has he even played the fucking game?!.

prototype should get an extra point for not jumping the good/evil bandwagon like every other game nowadays.

I actually am half and half on that... If they do, it will only serve to inflate Croshaw's ego but it will show that they are a group of easy going chaps which is good for them. If they don't, Croshaw won't get an underneeded ego boost but it will inadvertently show that they either aren't wise enough to watch Zero Punctuation or too full of themselves to play along with a mildly funny gag idea.

So I am torn between the two on what I want out of the deal.

It appears I was beaten to it. Although instead of a lack of a targeting system in inFAMOUS, I was ticked off by how much the characters all whine, and the frequency at which they do so. Moya whined that I wasn't doing my job correctly, Zeke whining about wanting to get a girl,

, and Trish whined about everything (this becomes especially irritating for me when playing through as an evil character). Even Cole - the superpowered man of the hour - mopes and cries constantly about the dumbest things, from Zeke bugging him, to Trish hurting his feelings, to not wanting to get dirty in some of the earlier missions.

Web of Intrigue is an original idea and I agree with you on its brilliance.

I actually used Whipfist when I needed to play hit and run with Supers and Yahtzee did qualify his statement about tanks by saying you can just hijack a Helicopter, which is correct though I did it to get rid of helicopters, jumping out after I cleared the skies and finishing Tanks with the Blade or Hammer, depending on where I was in the game.

I am happy about the lack of Morality play in Prototype and you are correct about throwing objects, it was fun and very useful, especially with upgraded muscle mass. That is how I beat the last fight, tossing things with fury and running like hell.

it´s just 2 sandbox games whit hero like caracters that sounds like they have only been drinking whiskey, smoking cigars and doing crack cocain for the last 10 years!!!
but hey i still belive they are both good games,
I have only played prototype ( only own xbx360) but I´m sure infamous is a great game, no doubt

Ya, I didn't get to play it but I sure watched more than my share of it. I was thinking more gameplay than dialogue, apologies. You are correct, the whining did get on my tits, so to speak.
