I stopped watching the video less then 2 min in.

I just can't take this anymore. The escapist isn't a video game or a review site anymore, it has simply devolved into a place where a bunch of liberals come together to whine and cry either about how super evil corporations (ok, mainly gaming or media corporations, but still corporations) are the worst thing ever or about some inconsequential bullshit like how your role-playing character in your video game can't be female or gay.

I am seriously considering leaving the escapist. I have been reading news and watching videos on this site for years but over that time this preachy and whiny bullshit has slowly become worse and is not at a point where I have simply lost my patience with the site. I originally came here to listen to news and reviews about the state of video games and other similar culture, not to listen to a bunch of liberals hold a political lecture. But whatever, it's your site escapist. If this is the course you have decided to take than I can't tell you that you can't, just don't expect me to keep seeing this place.
What the absolute hell is wrong with you?

Literally everything is political. Everything you say, everything you do - it reflects your politics. Personally, thanks to the Escapist's continued support of equality, I made the decision to upgrade to their Publisher's Club in the very near future. So the penny they would have earned from ads syndicated to you over the course of years will be handily offset by the 20 dollars I'll be handing them. Assuming you weren't using adblock and they were actually earning revenue on you that is.

You seem to have some sort of complex about what is ok to discuss and when. Nothing wrong with that, just means you come from an inferior country. Either Saudi Arabia, the US, Australia, or UK if I had to guess.

Disturbingly, Tomodachi Life is missing something far more important and widespread:

Which is your right:) Feel free to leave this part of the internet if you don't want to have your personal view catered to any and all times.
Just remember all the people who's views AREN'T common topics of conversation, and how they wish we'd maybe stop talking about your views and give theirs a change, k?

But if you honestly see the recent trend (and I'm not even sure how prevalent it is, really. Is there a threat EVERY SINGLE DAY, or just a couple a week?) as bad because YOU don't want to deal with someone else bringing up their issues, maybe you should take a second and think about how self-centered that makes you sound. This isn't just a review site, it's a forum for gamers of all types, and you're sounding awful like you're not interested in contributing.

In more relevant things, I had no idea that the protagonist of Yahtzee's book was named X. Might want to try that one just because of the picture...

X wasn't the protagonist. X was a government agent that wasn't very good at lying. She was more of a supporting character. The protagonist was some loser from Australia who has a thing for spiders.

Also, you know he has two books, right? The one X is from is Jam. Both of his books are pretty good though, and I hear he has a new sci-fi one in the works.

I suspected that I was mischaracterizing her as a protag, since I remember reading part of it and it mentioned some guy being afraid of jam. I do think your description of her is pretty funny though, makes her sound like a bumbling policeman like Thompson from Tintin.

And yeah, I've also heard of MOG World. I really need to find a library with his books.

Dunno about libraries, but you can snag them off Amazon for like 7-8 bucks apiece. 6 if you have a kindle. And then you can donate them to your local library if they don't carry them.

I wouldn't quite say she bumbles so much as she says things that are obviously not true and sticks to her guns. It's still pretty funny, though.

Everybody is afraid of the jam in that book, what with it covering the city and swallowing everything.

I fail to see a problem with excluding LGBTQAQ. I'm obese. Just like 50% of americans and mexicans or 30% of the germans. How many games are there that let me play as a fat guy?
Ask any fat person how they are treated from others. I don't think LGBTQAQ are treated worse then fat people. Am i supposed to protest now until all games include fat people?
So because you're not included, it's ok to exclude someone else? Are you supposed to protest the lack of fat people in videogames? That's entirely up to you, why would you bother asking someone else? If you want fat people to be better represented, then by all means, feel free to say so. If not, then stop using this completely bogus point as an excuse to exclude other people.

Furthermore straight dude, who are you to determine how well gay people are or are not treated? Or to equate their treatment to fat people. At the very least, if you wish to compare the two, maybe ask a gay fat person? Oh gee, you've got one speaking right here. I'll say this much, being fat sucks. I don't enjoy at all, especially in comparison to the periods in my life where I have been thin. Aside from a few middle school experiences though, I've never had someone treat me poorly due to my weight. Nor do I seem to lack for dating offers. I usually just decline because I'm not happy with myself, rather than someone else's issues with my body.

I wish I could say that I don't have people treat me poorly due to my sexuality though. I really wish that I didn't live in a society that gave people like me fewer rights than straight people. But I do. It's A LOT harder to be LGBTQ than it is to be fat. It's also infinitely harder to change being LGBTQ than it is being fat. Losing weight is hard. Forcing yourself to be straight or cis is impossible.

But hey, you clearly have a clue what you're talking about. Tell me more about how easy my life is as a gay person...

Unless you just let everyone hook up with everyone, which means you just take away the "gender" variable and all the code relating to sorting characters by it, which I suspect is what is being suggested.
Which might be the only solution to the issue that is stupider than excluding homosexuality. Then you are just making everyone omnisexual which, frankly, is going to put off too many people. There are plenty of people out their who don't care if there is homosexuality in a game. They can just not choose the homosexual option and it's good. But I can guarantee they would not appreciate homosexuality forced on to them.
Call it the "BioWare Approach".

I just find it sort of amusing that there was this great hue and cry over the port of a Japanese game not properly reflecting the tapestry of modern Western society. Meanwhile, nobody bothered to notice that this was basically a game where people create a virtual terrarium, and are encouraged to populate it with virtual renditions of real people, including friends and family, and then sit above them as an aloof whimsical god, pairing them off like a 7-year-old knocking Barbie dolls together.

Nothing creepy about that at all.

The only thing that could make E3 worth visiting this year - pelting EA with flesh eating Jam, while shouting Mr. Wonderful quotes, in a funny voice. That and calling Ubisoft a liar again for calling cut-scenes gameplay video, and then hitting them with the Jam. So many Jam awards to hand out, so little time...
