Unsurprisingly I am seeing a shitload of Max Brooks references on this thread.

Anyway, whats up with people talkin about katanas? Does anyone actually train with one and know how to use it? Youd hurt yourself more than the zombies if you didnt.

I'd stick with a bolt or lever action hunting rifle w/scope, two .45 magnum revolvers (Colt Single Action Army versions if possible. Just for badass purposes. Classic look and feel, modern punch), maybe a sawed off shotgun for emergencies, and NO MACHINE GUNS. For one I wouldnt be able to carry the ammo neccasary, and plus I wouldnt be able control the damn thing. I'd keep my distance and rely on sniping their undead asses from as far away as possible. For armor I'd subscribe to the Max Brooks theory of tight clothes and short hair.

Now, my issue, is my main weapon's--the rifle--ammo type. If I buy too common a one, then if i come across a sporting goods store to replenish my ammo, all of my kind may be gone because so many people have that type of rifle, they took it all in the first days of the outbreak. But, if i get too uncommon a one, then the stores might not have any at all. 30-30 would be too common I would think, while something wierd and exotic like .416 magnum would be too rare. Maybe a 30-06 or .338 magnum would suffice as being a happy medium.

As for the pistol, .45 magnum is nowadays not too common, but i shouldnt be using my pistols too much. But it packs a lot more punch than a .44 or .45.

The shotgun would most likely be either a 12 or 20 guage pump or semi-auto. Ammo shouldnt be too much of an issue for the same reasona s the pistol.
