I guess its good that you made the giant post. Makes up for the lack of them. =)

Now... the update of the imaginery sniper/ninja/shadow!

He crouches in the tree, hours at a time, then realises that they left the back door open. He sneaks inside, and finds a hidden basement which nobody can find. Luckily, there is a powered fridge, and he waits... While slurping a can of drink.

DUN DUN DUN DUN.

Shaz enters the infirmary holding a bulging sack.
"Hey Doc, I've got the goods. Bodies will be harder but I'll get some good ones while you're working on the heads."

Killion watched Maeror's bodily fluids leaking with fascination. He didn't think Maeror was the killer, he'd even sort of liked the man, but at the end everyone turned against him.
I told him... A little bit of efficiency can be sacrificed if it means people will like you more. You were too quick to order people around, to try to make them see the way you see. It was fine for a while, but we screwed up, we needed someone to blame. You're a scapegoat, Maeror. I'm sorry you had to leave this way, and I'm sorry I didn't help you, but you tried to pass your blame onto me... And I won't take that fate

"Tah. Maybe I can see what's up with them. Perhaps I can try and do a C-Section if I remember those video."

Oh how I've neglected you.
------------------------------------

Johnny burst into the crude medical lab set up in the infirmary carrying a radio under one arm. He seemed to have a jubilant look on his face, a pleasant change from the recent days. ?Listen up everyone, we?ve got radio! The old message was replaced by something about the President?s address around 7:00 o?clock tonight.?

Rain put down his manual and took the radio out of Johnny?s hands. He placed the device on the counter and tried to readjust the antenna. The whirl of static gave way to a clear signal within moments of tinkering. Rain stepped back as the message played out.

?-ellow Americans, these are dark times we?re living in.? the C-in-C?s voice calmly stated it as a father consoling a child who?d just lost his dog, ?The new menace of this viral scourge has prompted some?rash actions from members of my cabinet. Men and women our country has come to trust in recent years have lead us astray. I am afraid I no longer can guarantee the safety of this nation with conventional means alone.?

The group collectively held their breath. Gremlin looked over and saw Galt was shaking nervously. Uncertainty troubled Galt, he didn?t like it when the brass didn?t know what they were doing. The president?s weary voice continued on.

?Until now, we?ve faced this threat as a unified nation. We?ve been single-minded in the protection of the human race and I commend all of you out there fighting for our lives. Now however, a darker threat looms over our great nation. It has come to my attention that our a great deal of armed forces have effectively rebelled against us and now stand ready to subjugate us in our weakened state.?

The speaker went silent for a moment. A voice was heard in the background ?Finish it!? The president paused before continuing.

?Therefore, my fellow Americans, I must do what is necessary to ensure our survival. I hereby offer my unconditional surrender to the North American Hegemon.?

The survivors huddled in the infirmary did not know how to react. A mixture of shock and fear came over them like a cloud. Seconds later they heard a gunshot over the radio. No more messages came that night.

Killion grimaced.
"It seems I was right after all. The good die first. All we have worked to achieve is lost, sacrificed for survival and petty wants. Rome has fallen, the barbarians are closing in. Everything that elevated us above those outside is crumbling, civilization is dying."

OOC- I can't deny it, this post is fucking weird. I'm in an odd mood, just pretend I said that in a normal way and I might get around to editing it.

"I can't believe it."

Al stared at the radio, his voice unemotional. "The President... dead?" He stared at Galt for a moment. The man couldn't have been in on it, could he? No, that was madness. The poor man had been shaking, for heaven's sake! He could see Killion claiming that this was the end-

"Like hell it is. It's not over. Not by a long shot."

He then looked at the rest of the people in the room. "President or no, we ARE going to cross the Reddeker Line, and we're GOING to survive this Hegemon, and we're GOING to survive the plague. I did NOT escape Manhattan just to die right before reaching California." He stared at Killion once more. "Galt, where was the President broadcasting from? If they're already across the line, then we could-" But he immediately stopped that train of thought. Galt was the only trained soldier in the room; there's no way they could storm the gates.

A horrible thought went through his mind, a concern that he had to share. "The North American Hegemon.... what if our mysterious backstabber happens to be a member?"

"The broadcasts are supposedly originating from Denver, that's where the capital was located during my deployment. I'm not sure if the president was moved or not. Odds are the Line has already been taken if it was a military coup. It looks like we'll need to find a new destination. I think a move south might be possible depending on how well entrenched the usurpers are. Hell, we might even be able to join them if we're lucky."

"Well, I guess we can steal TV's now? Seriously, this is shit. Things are only going from bad to worse. Chaos is rising. What are we going to do Galt?"

"What's the plan Galt? We'll have to keep moving, but when?" asked Stompy, worrying about how they were going to continue and survive.

Gremlin scratched his chin thoughtfully. "Interesting that the president copped it before we did. Gremlin thinks it's an achievement to out-live a man who's survival would be... was paramount to his country." he shook his head. "Still, Gremlin assumes this does not bode well for us."

Galt walked into an office and pulled out an atlas.

"Alright, we're about 200 miles from of Denver so we've still got a ways to go until we even reach the furthest parts of the Line. Odds are that's going to be where the biggest part of the fighting will be. The zombies will migrate West towards the Line and the Hegemon will concentrate his men there too. Our best bet will be to go south through Nevada until we hit Mexico. That should be far enough that we can bide our time until things settle here. Hey, it looks like we might even be able to hit Vegas on our way down."

"We should probably stay away from large cities, but a detour will take a lot of supplies. There's a couple gas stations nearby, they'll probably have what we need. I really don't want run into a zombie hoard."

Gremlin's shoulders began to shake. "Maybe we should go to Vegas" he said, controlling himself, then burst out laughing "Maybe Elvis would come back for us?" he quietened down as everyone looked at him. "Sorry. Gremlin thought it was funny at the time."

"Vegas fell about a month before Malton did, so the chance of encountering a large horde should be small. Most will have moved north by now to follow the refugees to Denver. Bandits might be a problem however, Vegas never was that much of a magnet for the paragons of morality. But due to the desert, most will have probably moved on. I doubt Vegas could support more than a hundred or so now. Odds are, the city's been abandoned by now. It should serve as a nice rest stop on our way to Mexico."

"Ironic in a sense, though," Al remarked bitterly. "Used to be that people crossed the border to get INTO the States. Now we're crossing to get out." He paused before saying, "I'm not racist. I just found that amusing."
