"Emotions are such subtle things with you humans. You say one thing, but mean another. Your not afraid because you've lost your humanity, your afraid because your losing it. And you think playing the alpha male will hide this from us. Well, you can't hide from my nose."

"Hey man, leave Robin alone. A talking dog isn't really the most normal of things, but you'll get used to it." Samuel said.

"But you're probably right. You've lost a piece of humanity. We all have lost it during this period. Yours is just lost right now. Not to insult you or anything."

Yet another pulse shot through Portal. He dropped his magazine this time. He looked around and didn't see anyone else stricken by this. Now there was no doubt. The barrier between the worlds was shifting for a select few.

Preparations must be made! Deals must be struck! Everyone must be gathered! So much to do!

He rushed off to make sure the crossing over would be a smooth one. If handled with ill-care, the very fabric of all the universes could be destroyed.

"Stop complaining"

Chris completely ignored Robin, supposedly comming to terms with the fact that he was quite annoying.

"Samuel, don't you remember what Sparrow said? He said there is a boat you can use, do you not think you should maybe take a look?"

 

[ZapperX]

Zapper stared at the strange devices he was carrying. Mysterious, curious, peculiar... Only a few words he could use to describe them. Zapper still couldn't believe that Chris had come around. The thought made him chuckle. The mighty Chris, turned around by words. He smiled. He was glad he didn't have to use violence to get the devices. It would have been hypocritical.

He looked up.

"Portal... If you're listening right now, I'm going. You'll be back soon."

He paused for a moment, and his tone became more somber.

"And... If you see a kid up there... About 19, blonde hair, goes by the name of Lance... Tell him, tell him..."

He trailed off, and blinked out a tear in rememberance.

"Tell him that Lance Nicolson is sorry."

*Andy was to be found curled up in a corner of the APC. This had become her favourite sleeping position recently*

... Wimp. Don't feel safe without several tonnes of steel and firearms surrounding me. Can't deal with anymore deaths. ...
So selfish. Why me of all people? What can I possibly do to help?

Zapper walked outside, and moved towards the back of the APC, not trusting the greif-stricken family to let him live through the night. He needed to sleep, to plan out what he would do to get from England to Switzerland.

As he entered, he saw some one curled up in the APC. Only one person that it could be.

"Andy?" he whispered, "Andy? You awake?"

No answer. She was sound asleep.

Zapper went into another corner, and dozed off.

Permission to do a time skip for a couple of hours to Sparrow's funeral? Or are there other things people want to do just now?

I don't think anyone would mind. We need to get moving again, no offence. This arc has been given enough attention as it is.

[Yea, I'm out of ideas here, I'm gonna put the tape on fast-forward.

Zapper stood outside the APC, and walked over to the house, where Sparrow's body lay on a stretcher. He, Sam, Kid, and Hunter stood around the body, each of them bidding their last farewells to their old friend. Sparrow's parents, Andy, Robin, and Chris all stood around the grave Chris had dug. The four men looked at each other and nodded in affirmation. Hunter's eyes were the reddest of all of them, he had barely stopped crying.

All at once, they each picked up a corner of Sparrow's stretcher, Zapper in the back right, Kid in the front right, Hunter in the front left, and Sam in the back left. The four of them began a solemn march to the grave.

[Guys, should I just write the whole funeral scene and end it all?]

 

[ZapperX]

Zapper stepped forward after Chris had unveiled the name of the APC. He seemed like a real jackass right now, he needed to redeem himself to them.

"I... I'd like to say something."

The rest of the circle grew silent and gave him dirty looks. He began, "Wh- Wheen I first met Sparrow, he was just... some guy holed up in a little fort, hiding from the apocolypse. Then he started traveling with us... and he was the life of our party, always wisecracking, with a wit sharper than the knives we fought the zombies off with... But he was always so tired. Which reminds me of the night we met Chris... I can remember so clearly now, when I saw him after he had been infected by the werewolves. Even as a bloodthirsty monster, he was still the funny Sparrow I had come to know. Sparrow was great. He protected me while I was sleeping one day, he fought mercenaries, werewolves, and zombies side by side with me, he..." Zapper chuckled, "put shaving cream on my hand one night and tickled my face... Heh. Its funny now, but it wasn't then. Sparrow may have been the greatest one of us here. He always knew what to do, and how to do it. And..."

Zapper kneeled in front of his grave. "I'll miss you old friend. Thank you for keeping my secret."

He stood up. "Does anyone want to come with me? No? Then..."

"I'm off." He walked up to Sam and whispered to him. "Sam. He cannot die. Don't kill him. He CANNOT die."

"Goodbye everyone. I hope our paths will cross again someday."

With that, Zapper walked off towards the English Channel. He gave a two finger salute to the ZAS. As he faded from sight, it began to rain.

Zapper was gone.

With Chris' grand gesture, and Zapp's parting, Sam had yet to say a word. Robin knew he was too upset to speak, so he would do it for him.

"To Sparrow."
