Zombies = Slow, shuffling movement. Eat humans. Basic intelligence. Can only be killed by headshots or severing the head (which doesnt actually kill them, it makes them a head that can still bite you)

Going by that logic, theyre hasnt been a really good zombie game since Res 3 (Dead Rising is ok at best, could of been way better) and theyre hasnt been a zombie movie since George A. Romero stopped making movies (Land of the Dead is not a fucking zombie movie).

Im sick of all these "zombie" movies that dont have a single zombie in them. Has anyone ever seen a single zombie in 28 Days/Weeks Later or Left 4 Dead? I dont fucking think so. Or even in the Dawn of the Dead remake? Whats with the dead things having an Agility higher than 1?

At least Max Brooks knows what the fuck a zombie is.

Zombies that fall over now and again. Not for any purpose, just because I think zombies should be more clumsy.
It'd make me laugh anyway.

The ability to go anywhere and fortify almost every building. Time of day to change where the humans will be less effective at night because they are tired. So players will dread night time as in real life. Loads of weapons including melee. The ability to completely customize your character (like saints row) Let the humans drive vehicles and meet other NPC survivors and help them out for rewards (or kill them and take all their supplies) An experience system (your skills increase as you do them) eg: your fortify skill gets higher when you fortify windows and doors and the skill makes them stronger or last longer.

Well obviously all you need to do is take a game add the number 2 on the end put in a few skins and levels oh and dont forget a few melee weapons... im sure that what it must say in Valves development book.

Flamethrowers, Shotguns, lots of melee weapons and molotov cocktails, for starters. Second, SLOW zombies, like everyone else is saying. Next, zombies that attack in waves. Oh, and interesting environments.

Painkiller had some interesting Zombie levels, like Town and Dead City. I'm also fond of the village sections in RE4.

The ability to hole up somewhere and fortify it over time.

Like if you find a board, you'd be able to choose if you cover the windows with it, or if you use it to build a bridge over your moat...

Things like that.
That would make a sick zombie game.

Basically, a 3D version of urbandead, with a stronger focus on survival (food acquisition, more in depth barricade system) NPC's that add extra abilities like repairmen, farmers etc. That sort of thing would be the business.

Undead Dinosaurs. failing that, let the local zoo get infected, zombie lions and tigers and bears, oh my.

oh and mix up the heroic stereotypes. lets have the next zombie show run by a tall and grizzled butch woman with muscles the size of watermelons and a skinny short and sassy male sidekick.

ooooh and make the sprinklers go off if you set off grenades inside.

wow im inspired now. and how about instead of another bloody abandoned warehouse there's a abandoned daycare level, with forlorn child's drawings littering the floor and a small sad looking teadybear sitting in a suspiciously colored puddle, or a greenhouse, or a gym, or anything but another bloody office building and/or warehouse.

Traditional zombies - slow moving, shuffling, groaning, where one zombie is no threat at all, laughable even, but a zombie bite is fatal, resulting in more zombies and the threat comes from their gradual but unstoppable increase in numbers and the inevitable exhaustion of supplies for the survivors. This would result in a slower paced zombie game where you have to play tactically for the long term - you could try to barricade a place effectively enough to keep you holed up for hours, but the zombies will keep coming and one little mistake by you or any of your teammates will result in you being overrun.
