"Yeah, yeah. I think I'll take a seat," the soldier responded, sitting down with an anxious look on his face.
Adries pulled Lisa aside, "This could get bad. We should be prepared in case the worse happens, alright? If this zombie horde is as big as they say, this could be very problematic to our survival."

After the guard was unconscious Jack rolled over and sat up.

"Should I lay back down or follow you out? From what I've seen so far, this plan will work, lead on."

"Agreed. We should prepare ourselves. I can't believe it though...We find somewhere genuinely safe and it's taken away within a few hours." Lisa replied sadly.
"Any ideas on 'how' we prepare ourselves?"

"Stay there until i get back. I'm going for my weapons and something that'll make this convincing. Don't move, If another guard comes along, keep up with what you've been doing, I'll deal with them when i get back." Christie ordered before, grabbing the security key and going back to the office. She grabbed her weapons and a set of handcuffs.

Jack laid back down and resumed his slow and shallow breathing. He liked how the plan was going so far, and morbidly wanted to see where it led. Even the part of how Christie was going to kill him had him interested.

'Curiosity always was my master.' Jack mused in his head.

"Well I would say just get an escape plan ready. See an area where we can slip through unnoticed if something happens. I should tell my brother and uncle about this. I'd say we should get guns too, I'll talk to my uncle about that," Adries replied, trying to come up with a list of what she'd need to do, "And food, though I guess if we get to a town or something we wouldn't really need much, plus people would notice if we horde a bunch."

"The cargo area would work wouldn't it? Where they bring in supplies? We get a van and drive. We've got medical supplies ready as always. We should stick together if this threat seems real." Lisa thought aloud, thinking over things.

Christie froze when she saw a soldier approach the scene from across the cell. The cogs in her mind worked quickly.
Shit.
"-The hell happened here?" The solider asked approaching the unconscious body.
"The prisoner tried to escape and knocked the main guard unconscious, I stopped him just in time, i'm about to escort him out to the clinic before taking him to Kaufman." She replied moving quickly and gesturing to the handcuffs.
"Allow me to help you Ma'am." He said approaching Jack.
In a swift blow, she swung a kick against his back stunning him, before striking him with the butt of her gun. She moved her hair from her face before speaking to Jack.
"You can get up now."

Jack got up and moved toward the door of his cell.

"Alright then, that's the easy part out of the way. Now what should I do so we can get out of this jail and god forsaken base. This is your plan after all, and I would hope such a well crafted and sneaky plan doesn't end in a gun fight that wastes bullets that will be come increasingly rare and prized as time goes on."

"I'd like to a avoid a gunfight if possible, considering i don't want to risk more than a few days in prison or being put on menial labour because of you. After all, when i get back someone would have noticed that i was the last person signed in on many things, or even one of the other prisoners saw what happened or the guards are going to wake up and go on a hunt for me. But i'll be more than courteous after all, hell i won't even break out of my cell. From what i've seen some other soldiers have got away with worse than what I'm doing." Christie explained to him, half-thinking aloud, before stopping him at the metal scanner and restraining him with the handcuffs.

"I've thought this through, trust me here. Just keep quiet if you can then if you can act that's a bonus."

"Thank god I've tried to make myself something of a renaissance man. You tell me the role, and I'll give you the character. I always believed the idea of the renaissance man was interesting, science, art, and war all in one human. I'll keep quiet for our stay in this base after this, but I must ask, what was it you originally wanted to accomplish when you joined. I mean surely you must be more than power hungry to join the military. If you just wanted power, you could have gone into politics or business, so why the military?" Jack asked before keeping quiet and following her.

Christie considered her answer, she had her pistol out at this point just for realism with the other arm steering him along the courtyard. She'd parked a jeep at the in the cargo area. It wasn't too far away but it wasn't close enough to make things easy on her either. She'd asked for the jeep after lying her way through saying that she'd heard of a few civilians that were stuck inside a sterile building. There was a brief moment when very few people were around where she could reply.
"I'm sure Lisa mentioned that our father was in the military? He was somewhat of a role model to me. After High school, I had the grades to go wherever the hell i wanted. I considered Politics, but then i thought about dear father, who had already taught me much about his work. And what could i say? It appealed to me much more than sitting in an office preforming mind-numbing tasks to get to the top."

Jack simply nodded his answer back while still keeping quiet, he would wait until he was loaded in the vehicle to reply.

She was stopped once or twice asking what was going on. She gave her fake excuse about what had happened at the prison and that she was on her way to hand him over to Kaufman for punishment before they left. She was just pleased that the cargo area was in the same direction as his office.
It took less than and few minutes before she was at the jeep she'd been allocated. Christie put him into the back, muttering keep down then getting into the driver's seat.
She drove to the security check, giving her validation papers for leaving and when she'd be back. They confirmed it before releasing the gates and letting her go.

Jack waited for a few minutes before speaking.

"So it was your father huh? Wonder how all our parents would feel about all of this, the zombies, our lives, and what we've become. My parents died before I got this job, I'm sure they would have been proud of me up until I started kidnapping and abandoning my team. I'll just be glad when you give me what is necessary to finally achieve a new evolution of human. Maybe this disease isn't a scourge but a godsend in disguise? Bah, I'm probably boring you to tears or infuriating you to want to kill me even more with this, but it does appear my last chance to soliloquize. You can't honestly blame me for wanting to use it." "Y'know what? You're on death row so to speak and you can say whatever the hell you want. Besides i might even dare say miss having intelligent conversations with you. I myself can see your logic and I don't object to it. Well maybe the whole, speeding up the inevitable infection thing is something i'd object to doing myself. Oh yeah, I spared you the whole being bitten to death in favor for a injection by the way." Christie said with a calm tone.

"Oh, and if you think your parents wouldn't be proud, what do you think my parents think of me? Especially when they line me up with Lisa...My Father wasn't proud of me before this, so i doubt he'd suddenly regain any pride if he saw my way of dealing with things now."

"Anyone is a devil compared to your sister. She is both altruistic and honest, two qualities that make a saint of mere man. I thank you for the injection, as it will ensure a quicker infection than a bite. I am just glad to be on the front lines of the legion that will knock humanity off its post. We cannot win, as our cities and factories fall, bullets and guns will become increasingly hard to find. Hell vehicles will be useless in a matter of months from now. Where will humanity be once guns, bullets, and vehicles are no longer usable? We will be forced to fight like the knight or roman legionary before us, and we will lose. Humanity cannot beat these things in hand to hand combat, we will survive a long time, but we will meet our end to them. At least, that's how I see this going anyway. The only way to stop it is to find a cure, and it will be too late very soon for that. Once entire nations start collapsing, they will have won." Jack said as he moved to sit in the back seat.

"You're welcome." Christie started, choosing not to say that she could've gone either way, but this way she avoided any danger to herself.
"I doubted this whole happy military base of fun idea was going to hold up forever. To be honest, any of the ideas we brainstormed during the first few days didn't feel like it was ever going to be a permanent thing anyway. I suppose I can tell you now, considering that you won't be talking to many people after this, but my superiors were considering a 'contingency plan' for when the inevitable as you mentioned happened. It won't mean much to me anymore, considering I fear what they're going to do to me if i respond to their calls and they won't give me any warning about it now."

"Let me guess this one, the military plans to take the whole world with them if they're going to die. Always the human thought process, if our faction isn't the victor, we must kill as many people as we can to leave the enemy with nothing. This time though, they actually can take the human world with them. There will be surviving zombies though, in sewers, subways, and oceans across the world. They will eventually find their way back to land and all that will have been accomplished is a reduction in numbers. Victory will be impossible unless the disease is cured and every infected man, woman, and child killed." Jack said

"Pretty much. They were some crazy bastards actually, they were going to sterilize a whole country and move any survivors there. Then they were going to...clean the rest of the world. That was all they wanted to tell me, aside from the fact that if the plan went through, i'd be made acting leader on the 'safe country'." Christie confirmed with almost sadness when she mentioned the last part with a sigh.
"...Oh well. That last idea was one of their plans too, aside they had little ideas on how to carry out the first part apart from me brining them all of Bixler's information and killing anything that looked at them funny. Even now, with the plan Bixler is working on now, there's no way, he'll finish in time. Especially if those notes aren't found. But the number of infected are indeed growing and the anti-viral won't mean anything."

"They don't even need numbers, their growing power and the military's dogged ignorance of how to defeat these kinds will seal their doom. The numbers simply clench the deal, you know, I told Kaufman his plan to defeat the acid spewing zombie wasn't going to work. I would put money down that even though he thinks he killed it, its out there right now, simply regaining strength for the right moment. Even the most wild of animals knows when it must retreat, and this one is not particularly stupid, just violent and noticeable." Jack said.

"I thought their plan was pretty fool-proof. But then again I've only fought a few of these things and the thing we saw yesterday was indeed as smart as what we fought before and even more powerful. Most of the time when we have to go against these things, it's purely trial and error. But as these things get stronger, we won't get much chance to get an error without unescapable death." Christie replied taking a turn.
"I can't even fathom how many of those things, greater, stronger and smarter are around..."
