Something i'd like to see is that one guy/girl/person who understands whats going on from the beginning and is properly prepared for it. gets tiring seeing a bunch of people staring at a bunch of zombies tearing crap apart and are wondering "Whats going on???!?!?".
Yes, please! What a strange paralell film-universe is this where people have never ever seen a zombie film?

Their is at least one book i can think of where the person was prepared so to speak. In "I am Legend" the man knew exactly what to do, but suffered from being all alone and away from humanity.

I am fairly sure that their are more books out their about it. I read a sci-fi book a while back where not only were the "Walking dead" known about, but they were actually a main part of the plot and were integrated into society. They were intelligent beings with independent thought (think World of Warcraft Zombies) that held seats of power in government. I just can't remember the name of the book or the Author...

The only thing I don't want to see is spelling mistakes. *grammar nazi badge shines*
I will sign up to your Grammar Fascist State!

Also, I would like to see a nice slow-build, plenty of ratcheting the tension before we actually see anything. Show the aftermaths, show the people, show shadows and glimpses...don't just shoot the 'oh look it's slavering zombies' bolt too early, please.

Sure, books do this from time to time, I don't recall the one you describe but I've read some others.
Unfortunately films seem to like the !"Wait, what's that? He bit me, wtf?"-approach a bit too much. I don't want to see the same reactions over and over again. That's why Shaun of the Dead is superior to most of the serious ones for me. Not that I hate them, but the characters sometimes act very similar.
