I don't think so. I mean, it's considered fine to dehumanize Nazis. Others...? No, not really. It is fun though.
I found it to be pretty shocking when I saw the Nazis goose stepping towards me, and my friends claim they see a Hitler zombie every now and then...this is the kind of mockery you could rarely ever do to another group of people or nation (the only other game I can think of that got away with something like this is Punch Out!!).

And while I enjoy it still, I believe it's one of the most racist concepts in gaming.

It wouldn't exactly be racist. Nazis aren't another race. And even so, things like this really did happen in WWII. Didn't you ever read the zombie survival guide =D? I don't really see how it could be found offensive...no one truly wants to be associated with Hitler or the nazis. Now if it was called German Zombies, that would be a different story.

The reason I called it racist and not discriminatory, is because I was trying to see if someone would catch me out on that. Glad you did.

Now, it's one of the most discriminatory concepts in gaming. And on the flipside, if there was a Vietnam game from the perspective of the Viet Cong, and there was a mode called something similar, where you were toasting American soldiers (and I'm going by the belief that most Americans don't like to think about the Vietnam war, or to really bring it up), do you think people would let it slide? I think not, they would call it offensive, like this is.

And why no 'imperial zombies'? Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I'm going to point it out, regardless.

I hope to god there isn't one. Nazi Zombie mode was just stupid, and it made lose all respect for World At War and Treyarch.

I would rather have them spend time and money on the main game and not something on the side...

I have L4D and it makes the zombie thing in World at War a joke.

But the point is that people associate the holocaust, the slaughtering of 6 million jews, with the nazis, and that's it. They therefore see nothing wrong with killing a few undead nazis. And as far as your Vietnam/American analogy, the whole world has not denounced America because of the events of the Vietnam war, but the whole world has denounced the Nazis for their actions during WWII. It really isn't discriminatory. The nazis were a political party, and they more or less no longer exist today.
And the don't make and Imperial Zombies because the Nazis played more of a rule in WWII then the Japanese did.

I'm well aware of that. All I was saying is that most people see no problem dehumanizing them, despite that many were conscripts and few were Nazis.

That and they probably don't want to be accused of Racism like Capcom did(and does) because of the African Zombies in RE5. White Zombies? Fine. Spanish Zombies? fine. Black African Zombies? Racist.

So I imagine that Japanese Zombies were probably get some of the same Flak.

Modern Zombies would be on the brink of tastless.
humm...They could just call it modern zombies and give some of them M4's.

Really, If they include zombies again, it will probably have to be generic zombies. Any specific group being the zombies would probably cause a lot of backlash.

its ok to dehumanize other people as long as you don't make it a certain group. or as long as you give a reasonable excuse as to why the entire population of happy town has turned into slobbering brain eaters

It doesn't necessarily have to be zombies. There most likely will be some sort of survival mode...
but it is a bit hard to imagine without those lovable, shambling, brain eating zombies =D

It would be hard to use something other than zombies because people would probably be wondering why the enemy was just running at you, instead of using weapons. Unless there is some event in the plot that could back that up...
