Well, it could be a virus/parasite that has a horde mentality (ex: ants, bees, termites). Like in dead rising, all of them have a worm, but then theres the queen.

Good point, didn't think of it like that. But a quick counter argument for it's own sake. Don't the majority of "zombie viruses" that get made up seem like they're based off of forms of rabies? Wouldn't that induce more of a mindless attack of everything then a hive mentality.

Granted, with zombies, anything is possible. Just sayin'.
