So odd to be against masks. They're not hard to find, they're not hard to wear. No idea who this guy is, but frankly he had it coming. It sucks and condolences to the family, but it was a decision he made.

Honestly, it's not even that he didn't wear a mask, it's that he attended a fucking rally. That's criminally irresponsible. Whether or not a mask really helps is a moot point for me, because refusing to wear one just shows you aren't taking this pandemic seriously.

I know a lot of people gloat when this sort of thing happens, and there's no doubt that many of these people are responsible for people falling ill, but I honestly still feel sad.

I hope I misreading this. Because if not, it has me seething with rage. The only 'politicizing" there is happens when people refuse science and the well being of others due to a perceived right to do so. When you're taking a stand against masks, you're taking a stand against proven medical science and forgoing other people's safety so you can feel free.

Well let's hope anyone influenced by his - and others in the same stubborn vein - vocal choice under this pandemic can understand the real dangers posed instead of handwaving this as "fake news" or whatever. I've more sympathy for those without the responsibility and access to data he threw away while no doubt inspiring many less knowledgeable people to do the very same. Public figures are not more human than the invisible people making up the statistics in everyday news. But they certainly have an undeniably huge influence on those unseen and ignored.

A lot of the anti-maskers and Covid 19 Truthers are kinda fucking insane. Sadly, considering Sandy Hook Trutherism and Birtherism is also a thing, I'm not shocked. Just dismayed.
