Psychonauts. It's well appreciated by the people who have actually played it, but it's not relatively well-known.
XIII as well, it sold terribly even though it was awesome, so we don't get a sequel.
Also, as for death, I think Grand Theft Auto IV did an awesome job with body shots. Shooting somebody in the leg, for instance, would make them fall over but not kill them. They may be lying on the ground in agony, but they wouldn't be dead. You could shoot their limbs quite a few times and not...
Not necessarily a shooter, but iirc Fable had your character accumulate scars over the course of the game, and I thought it was a pretty cool detail to show him being hurt and the like over a period of time.
Pretty much the only good thing about that game...
Too true, it really can be pretty heavy. I have a Core i5-750, 8 GB of RAM and a 9800 GT, and on Fancy graphics, it can dip pretty low. I typically run it on Fast, since, three-dimensional clouds and transluscent leaves don't mean much to me.
