I have as many problems with origin as I have with Steam. I just live with both. The only difference I have found is I get better customer service with EA than I do with Valve. The problems against Origin are hyped up to exhaustion. Get over it.

EA can usually back you up through their Origin service. If the game is post 2007 then you can input the Disc key through Origin and get the game. Contact their support. EA support is pretty good.
