GTA 5 - ain't perfect. A list of the biggest problems.

Technically, GTA 5 is great - it combines a lot of different systems into one quite stable piece of software that runs fine on consoles and has potential for amazing visuals / simulation on next-gen systems + PC. However, GTA 5 has several fundamental flaws, as partially outlined by...

What is your favorite gaming world?

A realistic world? Props go to STALKER. So atmospheric and believable, even with anomalies and mutants around. A mix of fantasy and realism? Morrowind, no doubt. A fantasy? Planescape Torment, hands down. One of the best written games ever. I usually prefer worlds that are quite open...

Most difficult storyline decisions games ever forced on you...

First - a couple of rules I'd like to outline to make this thread more worthwhile and useful: 1) Only list [your most difficult] decisions that affect a game's storyline structure/progression. Refrain from mentioning illusion decisions, as they're simply a cheap trick to make the content...

Poll: The latest Thief game, reactions?

Thief (4) seems like a desperate attempt of a corporate body to attract more customers with already established and well-known brands. It's a safer way, but in the end, when not faithful to the originals, it's contagious. I'd have preferred a Dishonored-like game "Thieves" without Garrett and...

Why do people hate realism in shooters?

Arma 2 + ACE2 Mod provides unmatched realism in video games. It feels amazing, a lot of attention to detail and simulation. Not interested in graphics or very accurate weapon models, but varying environments in Arma 2, as mods, provide a unique experience every time you play. I find most...

    New Thief Game!

Nowadays, reboot sounds very cheap and the word itself is obsolete. Instead of calling it "Thief (without any number)", I'd have made a proper sequel quite faithful to the original masterpieces (with some adjustments to today's stupid publisher demands) and released other Thief classics as HD...

    Scariest monsters/creatures in video games.

Most of STALKER mutants. For some reason, I find them very "natural" and fitting the game's environment, theme and atmosphere much better than in any other video game. They're unscripted, have special abilities, and sometimes show some good flexible AI. What's not to love? PS: Oh, that...

A game that everybody else loves, but you hate? (Witcher 2)

"Not very good" voice-acting? It's one of the best I've ever witnessed in 15+ years of gaming. Your standarts, mister, are too high. Make sure you compare the voice-acting with similar RPGs to TW2 - Skyrim and such, where the amount of dialogs is similar or even smaller. Tris' CA-like voice...

Games with the most immersive 1st person views.

No doubt - Arma series / Arma 3. The fact that you actually have a body and can rotate your head independently of the centered camera beats everything else. You also have many additional parameters that add to the experience - aiming deadzone, headbob, etc. Awesome for a military simulator.

Best PC Graphics to date: Top 5

Arma 3 - beautiful, one of the most realistic lighting, sandbox, etc. The Witcher 2 - because it's one level linear superb game, it looks gorgeus (but so many invisible walls). Crysis 1 Far Cry 2 STALKER series, especially Clear Sky

    A Great Ending...

STALKER: Call of Pripyat and Shadow of Chernobyl (not mentioned). Both had interesting endings which did reflect player's choices made in the course of storyline. SoC had more symbolistic, thematically darker endings (6 in total), while CoP explained the events afterwards comfortably. On...

    Would You Recommend Baldur's Gate?

Have you played Planescape Torment or Icewind Dale? Expect similar gameplay from those 2 in Baldur's Gate. All 3 have a deep, thoughtful storyline with many choices and responses to select from. It's all up to the player's willingness to dig further. BGEE is probably with partly improved...

Poll: What S.T.A.L.K.E.R game do I start with?

Check some moddb.com pages and official GSC Game World forums under STALKER titles' subforums for "Mod discussion" sections. There's plenty of great but not well-known content, made by Russian community (Secret Trails 2 for SoC, anyone?). With STALKER mods, I'm always trying to keep an open...

Poll: What S.T.A.L.K.E.R game do I start with?

Speaking of mods, Misery 2.0 will be released on July 31 for CoP. Very much anticipated and worth a replay. Which is exactly what I'm aiming for on August. For SOC, I recommend Oblivion Lost 2.2, Priboi Story (it features an alternative storyline, which is awesome and refreshing) and...
