Escape to the Movies: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Speaking as someone who is from the deep South and has spent 24 of the last 26 years here, I wish there was a lot more demonization of the Confederacy from my fellow Southerners. Gone With the Wind style romanticization makes me queasy, and I figure that if my home is ever going to rise above...

    Stop all the COD Hate

I don't hate the games for what they are, or for who plays them. I dislike them personally as they are not to my taste, sure, but I "hate" what they do to the video game industry. I hold them to be no different than any other stagnant, repetitive, low-value, committee-designed game-a-years...

In your opinion, what was the worst game you ever played?

Hmm... Bioshock is probably the game I hated the most, but it was by no means the worst, which makes coming up with the *worst* kind of tough. Let's see... There's an N64 game I rented once that was transcendent in its awfulness, but since I can't recall the name of it, I think I'll go with...

Angriest a game has gotten you

The Andrew Ryan confrontation in Bioshock was both a slap in the face to the player and a revelation that the game had no idea what it wanted to be about, and couldn't be bothered to figure it our before wasting my time. It is probably in my top three worst moments in any game I've ever...

    Poll: Does campaign matter anymore?

I'll only even play coop online multiplayer anymore, and even then, only occasionally. If you don't have a story, and I paid more than $10 for your game, the campaign is going to be more or less the only thing I judge it on, no matter the budget or genre.

Favorite RPG game of all time

Yeah, come to think of it, Persona 3 makes it a tie.

Favorite RPG game of all time

Ogre Battle: Person of Lordly Caliber. Great, ahead-of-its-time RPG with approachable, deep strategy mechanics and, above all, one of the best stories in any RPG I've ever played. So sad it's not more widely known.

Will Portal 2 generate any new memes?

Thanks for the hate crime, Jer.

    Why is firefly so popular?

There are a number of reasons for its popularity, most of which it shares with any number of other Joss Whedon projects, but I think a lot of it has to do with the ensemble cast. The characters are all well-realized and well -acted, and there are enough of them that most people who watch the...

Is anybody else dreading the backwash or Portal 2 humour?

You're doing yourself a disservice if you let the Internet's resident, thriving community of Stupid put you off from playing either the original Portal or the new sequel. They're both excellent, and you can just do what I do, namely avoid people who quote the jokes in lieu of cleverness wherever...

What's so great about the Persona series?

Personas 3 and 4 are both excellent games, but they won't be for everyone. Their strengths: very human, multifaceted characters with great dialogue and voice-acting; interesting, highly symbolic narrative; challenging, strategic gameplay; palpable atmosphere; great, inventive soundtracking...

What's your favorite Nintedno 64 game?

Yeah as awesome as most of the games people have mentioned so far are, and as much as I love them, only one of them has spent a decade (and counting!) in my top three all-time favorite games for any platform. Seriously, Ogre Battle: Person of Lorldly Caliber is on Wii Virtual Console now, if...

Dragon Age 2 what makes you the most angry?

Frankly, threads like this make me the angriest. While I haven't finished the game yet, it obviously has its issues, but it's certainly superior to its predecessor (if for no other reason than that the combat no longer makes me want to stop playing every time I have to slog through it). So...

    The Witcher: Any Good?

Though I liked The Witcher, it is not without its problems, many of which have been mentioned here. Still, comparing it to DA:O is tricky. The Witcher has no party system and features a limited supporting cast, many of whom are pretty interesting, but not intimates of the main character. The...

BioWare Says the PC is "Made For Games"

I always like it when developers I'm fond of justify that fondness :) Plus, it's always seemed to me that in a perfect world, every game come out on PC *and* consoles, so it's nice to see someone thinking in that direction.
