Gamergate, No "Right Side." - We Should Avoid Picking Sides

I'm curious actually, why do people keep starting new threads about Gamergate?

Gamergate, No "Right Side." - We Should Avoid Picking Sides

Yet you care enough to start this thread? You don't care about corruption in the media (Hint: Blatantly lying is a sign of corruption. Blatantly lying in an attempt to smear a group, moreso). That's fine. But you know, you don't have to care about whether other people care.

Gamergate, No "Right Side." - We Should Avoid Picking Sides

"Gamergate is a hate movement" "Gamergate is a bunch of men angry at women" "Gamergate is a movement to harass people" And yet the media labels the entirety of GamerGate as misogynists due to the actions of only a few. Sometimes due to the actions of people who aren't even affiliated with...

Gamergate, No "Right Side." - We Should Avoid Picking Sides

And what about the part where they publish blatant lies? Read the main gg thread here. Do you see any actual misogynists in there?

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

I'm pretty sure I was talking about the part where journalists collude together to make society hate a specific group of people but go ahead and keep putting words into my mouth if you think that's going to help.

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

Ok then. I was talking about ethics. You asked me a question unrelated to ethics. I believed you were implying something with the question that was related to ethics but apparently I was wrong. So basically you just asked me a question unrelated to ethics and then when I answered, you...

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

You asked me why I didn't just ignore the corruption and ethics in gaming journalism. I answered. Please quit trying to blame this on me when you're the one brought this up. They're lies. Last I checked, lying is unethical. It's an example of something related to journalism outside of...

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

Plenty of people are now spewing hate towards gamers. Not just Gamergate, but gamers in general. There was already a CEO who threatened to fire anyone just for being a gamer, regardless of whether or not they have anything to do with Gamergate. People have been doxxed and fired over their...

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

Their lies have a negative effect on society. Why do we have laws against slander and libel? The only problem is, gamers can't sue these people anymore than Muslims can sue anyone if they publish "Muslims are mostly made up of angry terrorists who hate freedom!"

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

You deflect a talk about corruption and ethics into "Oh this is just journalists giving reviews you don't like". I'm not sure if you're doing this on purpose or if it's subconscious or something.

*sigh* And you believe that narrative too?

I have a question, why do you keep distorting what other people are saying?

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

Please quit asking "Have you stopped beating your wife" type questions. We're shutting down people in positions of power who abuse it by spreading lies. Lies that actually hurt people.

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

You mean you forgot about all of these journalists blatantly lying repeatedly? That was my first clue that "hey maybe Gamergate actually has a point". Problem is, if you wait too long to stop it, it becomes harder to stop.

BREAKING: Women of #GamerGate Make Breakthrough on HuffPo Live

Normally, I would ignore them, except they have power in the industry, they're abusing that power to spread their political ideology. And now they're spreading lies, which really does hurt society, so now we have to shut them down.
