Well, their old games were fairly buggy, but nowhere near as bad as New Vegas. And with that, you cant really hold it against them, cause as far as I remember, Bethesda forced them to use that excuse of an engine, Gamebryo.

Well, Bethesda is notorious for breaking more than they fix every patch, but from the sound of your xbox, I think it may have more to do with it than anything. Cant speak much for the patch though, I'm on PC and haven't updated, for the above reason.
