Ecapist's own - Games You Might Not Have Tried.

For my pick, I say The Saboteur. Pandemic Studio's swan song, it's an open world GTA meets Assassins Creed, set in Occupied France. It has a really corny but enjoyable plot, lots of destroyable structures and side quests, and some slick shooting and driving. It's far from being without flaws-...

Game of the Year That Didn't Come Out This Year

Paper Mario, the original on N64. The graphics are gorgeous, even today, the combat is really satisfying, the dialogue is funny... all I could ask for in an RPG.

    Recommend me some books.

I quite enjoyed The Bourne Identity novel. It's worth reading even if you've seen the film as they are actually quite different.

Most boring game you've ever played.

Quoting Spoony now are we? Also, seconded. Avoid that game like the plague IMO.

What phrases or topics immediately shut down your interest in a conversation?

I'll pull the "Agree to Disagree" card if an argument is getting too heated and isn't worth fighting over. If neither side is making any progress in the argument all that's going to happen is that you get pissed at each other. Not worth it over an insignificant argument.

That underrated, forgotten gem of a game.

The Saboteur. Oh how I love The Saboteur. It's GTA meets Assassin's Creed with a hint of Just Cause, set in World War II France. A little bit buggy, but that's because the dev studio was shut down before it was released. I miss Pandemic Studios.

Why gamers should embrace on-disc DLC

The second he said TF2 is better on xbox was the second I realised this is just troll-bait. Moving on.

Games that make you go "How could anyone hate this?"

With FFX, the combat was absolutely glorious, though the story was a hunk of shit (IMO) and THE FUCKING TEMPLES. It was the temples that put me off FFX, because I could deal with a few shitty voice actors and such.

    What Happened to The Sims?

No, no this is not an excuse. No company should get away scott free for ignoring customer complaints, just because they are not universal. There are dumb things to complain about, yes, like the Sims not being a FPS. But when people have legitimate criticisms, they should be listened to and dealt...

Jimquisition: Why Boycotts Fail Where Whining Tantrums Win

This guy just summed up how I feel perfectly. Also, Mass Effect 3 wasn't good, compared to the first two, even ignoring the bullshit ending and day 1 DLC. If an EA franchise becomes seen as "An EA franchise that is ok for true gamers to buy" then EA will promptly make it homogeneous and...

    Final Fantasy VII Accidentally Re-released

You can get FF7 on PSN for $10, and get it on PS3, PSP and PSV for that one price, and no DRM, and better sound files. Why bother with this?

Achievements that Require the Least Amount of Effort

There's one point in Metro 2033 in which you must give a child one bullet (the currency is bullets) to guide you to a person. You can say no, and it gives you the "Realist" achievement. An achievement for not giving a single coin to a hungry child.

Have you ever griefed? Now's the time to apologize (or not)

Whenever I'm playing Versus mode in Left 4 Dead 2, and I'm the only survivor to reach the safehouse, I sometimes let a single common zombie into the safehouse. The round doesn't end until all survivors are in the safehouse or dead, and no zombies are alive in the safehouse. So, I simply let the...
