I would like to add Dead Island to that mix, the sense of immersion is pretty good. The hit physics are really well done for first person melee also. I hope skyrim has the same sense of weight behind the attacks like in DI.

I have beat the game and I feel it gives me a sense of being more powerful without making the game stupid easy. I like how as level 39 I can still get my ass beat on the resort level, but I also like how my crit skills I purchased make my electric sledgehammer launch a zombie 10 feet into a wall...

I liked Tobal 2, I let some tekken players try it and they hated it. At the time (1996 I believe) Tobal 2 had the hottest game engine for a full 3-D fight game in my opinion. THe grapple system was really well done, and the animations were awesome.

SMT's Persona should do the trick. At any version you get decent amounts of edge, humor, and mystery. All that other stuff tends to get a little juvenile, and honestly I feel Final Fantasy hasn't been epic since 3 (America). Overall to I agree with Atmos, there hasnt been any noteworthy...
