    Favorite Game and series

I respect that, I suppose, seeing as all four games are ridiculously good. But still, I've never felt as deep a connection to Fallout 3 as any of the other ones. Probably because it was the first Bethesda role-playing game I ever played, so I was still yet to get the hang of things. Also, it...

    Favorite Game and series

Yeah, if you don't dig the old-school-turn-based-isometric RPG thing, than Fo1 and Fo2 are pretty hard to get into. You can certainly still appreciate the atmosphere and writing, though. Also, I don't think Fallout 4 will be announced for a while yet. It'll probably be released late 2014 on...

How important is music in a game?

It's not so much music, as it is sound design. Sound design is crucial for building atmosphere, atmosphere is crucial for building a sense of place and immersion. And I think we can all agree that immersion is very important in a good game - particularly a story driven one. Therefore I would say...

    Favorite Game and series

You have the Fallout series as number two on your list. For me it is the greatest series of all time. However, on your list you excluded Fo1 and Fo2, presumably because you have never played them. However, as a rabid fan of the Fallout series, one who has played all four major titles in the...

Games that don't get enough credit for atmosphere

I know it's atmosphere is relatively known, but I thought Deus Ex: Human Revolution had a fantastic atmosphere. Just amazing. Also, as far as games that are said to have good atmosphere, but just didn't sink their hooks into me, I'd have to point out the Mass Effect series. Even though the...

How should the next Elder Scrolls Game be handled?

I don't want this to start an argument, either, so I will just say that while spiderweb games (which I've never played) are undoubtedly more complicated and hardcore than Skyrim, the general starting point when looking for a deep RPG this generation, has been Bethesda. I'm not arguing that...

How should the next Elder Scrolls Game be handled?

Allow me to clarify. When I speak of Skyrim's complexity, I am not talking about the click-click-loot-repeat combat system. I am talking about the vast majority of systems and number crunching (which is briefly addressed in my full comment) that goes on behind the scenes to determine whether...

How should the next Elder Scrolls Game be handled?

To everyone saying that Skyrim was "dumbed down," I say to chill out. Yes Skyrim was more streamlined than Oblivion, which was more streamlined than Morrowind. But come on, calling Skyrim a casual game, just because it's not freakin' Baldur's Gate - bad interface and all - doesn't mean it...

Who's excited about the new X-Com?

Yes I am excited. I haven't ever played a single X-Com game before, but it doesn't matter - this game looks absolutely amazing. Day one buy, if I'm not busy. To be honest, the games i'll be playing in October (Dishonored, X-Com: Enemy Unknown) might trump even this month's awesome releases...

Games you ended up liking a lot more on your second playthrough. Or my thoughts on New Vegas.

I know, right! I want Obsidian (I.E Black Isle, the bloaks behind Fo1 and Fo2)to develop Fallout 4, so badly. You know why? Because Bethesda, all happy with the "organic leveling" in Skyrim, are probably going to take away XP and skill point distribution - one of the greatest aspects of the...

Games you ended up liking a lot more on your second playthrough. Or my thoughts on New Vegas.

Oblivion. Finished it, and thought it was kind of crap due to the combat, filler-travel, and voice-acting. However, like many people, Oblivion was one of my first experiences with an open world role-playing game and as such I had to "learn" to play it correctly. Fallout 3 was similar. However...

Moments where the enemy A.I is surprisingly competent.

    That is actually really funny.

Moments where the enemy A.I is surprisingly competent.

The original Half Life has better A.I than most shooters today; I find that funny and depressing at the same time. Also, Halo on the harder difficulties isn't too bad.
