My suggestions, 2112 by Rush, and Tommy by the Who.
2112 is a 20 minutes epic about a guy living in a society which has banned music, he finds a guitar in a cave and then tries to convince the rules of his society to allow him to show others his gift, it's freakin' awesome and filled with tons of Ayn Rand parallels. (The song is suprisingly similar to her book "Anthem.")
And while Tommy may be a whole album about 1 hour in length, but all of the songs are all about a single boy named Tommy and follows him from his childhood to his teenaged years.
