I also notice that the people that have Gone Gonzo have more of their posts quoted.
I think that if you see that someone has a big post count, you on some level of conscience, you know that he is just more intelligent than the average forum-goer, and you read those posts.

Post counts do matter. People with low post counts that claim "post counts don't matter" are simply jealous. People with Gonzo post counts that claim "post counts don't matter" are lying-- they know that they really do matter but want to call attention to themselves anyway because that's what being Gonzo is all about.
I agree. A bigger postcount actually makes me feel a leeetle bit warmer inside.

Although people like superpandaman and Richard Groovy Pants'y are just made of 100% pure, soft crazy.

But Richard, don't take offense.
Aside from superpandaman, you make awesome posts. ;)

That's true. People seem to quote you just to argue with you.

I wasn't fussed about the gonzo thing. I wanted to get to pulitzer laureate, because it sounded cool.
Now I'm here though, it is quite cool to be gonzo.

The satire is brilliant, but makes it all the more saddening to realize very nearly no one will understand it, and actually take these "Tips for Going Gonzo" as gospel.

Anyone who has looked at my early, middle, and recent posts can attest that my post count is a product of long-winded communication, a few failed ideas, several successful rants, and lots and lots of narratives.

Oh, and a few reviews.

But NewClassic... you AREN'T gonzo anymore...

What does your new title mean anyway?

Personally I haven't noticed many changes from my earlier postings. But that's because I haven't really kept track of them and since I'm getting dangerously close to "old" my personality is pretty much rooted. Both online and off.

Hows about you make a thread about tips on how to make 5000 posts without incurring Moderator Wrath?

As rottenbutter has said on page 1:

You want a high post count? Try the Forum Games and RP section, that should give it decent increase.

Oh, and by the way, post counts DO NOT matter.

Edit: Badges on the other hand, are VERY important.

The new title is a play on the concept of Vaults from the Fallout series, I'd guess. Personally, it was done by the very famous Swiss Titleers, so I'm not entirely sure what motif they had going when they sat down to work on my Title Smithing. That's probably why they're the professionals.

By following these tips, one can expect to be repeatedly punched in the crotch, with concrete gloves.
and the gloves have electric spikes on them that remove your sense of fun, and make you color blind

Half of the people here don't understand the irony.. you would think that after 10-15 years people would have gotten the hang of irony, but still.. nothing...

Another way is to post, and then say it was only because you wanted to see how many posts you had already!

I don't know, I wouldn't call myself more intelligent, just more charismatic. And most of the time I get quoted because I comment on little threads, so I get a lot of quotes saying "This" or the like.

Along with Eggo and a few others.

But, you earned it. I aimed for Pulitzer too because it sounded awesome. On my 999th post I was hesitant to click the button.

Yeah, I kinda was too, but now when I hit 1999 and recently 2999 I didn't even notice.

It's been taking me ages to get from 1Kilopost to 2. Don't know why. I got my first 100 or so posts from the random battle thread, then a good chunk from the 'Misconceptions about PC gaming' thread. Then a good few again from that argument I had about British knife law.

But the main community contributing posts are from the Extravaganzas and other such things.

See I remember most of my posts. Does that make them thoughtful?

Maybe, but I've yet to see one who can dodge bullet.

I'll admit, I got most of my posts from 1000 - 2300 in my Holiday Council thread. Which you refused to acknowledge, I notice.

Who what which thread? What did I miss?

I just click the links on the front page. It is a rare thing for me to delve into the actual thread lists.
