Bioshock. It's emersive, thematic, well pased, not too difficult and most importantly fun.

It has, in my mind, set the standard for FPS games.

Alternatively,

The Spiderman game from PlayStation. It was quite enjoyable as far as platforming and free roam goes with decent combat and as well as a logical (ie. consistent rate of increase) difficulty curve.

i remember playing the spiderman game (assuming u mean the PS1 version). I really liked how although there were a fair few different attacks i felt they were all balanced. Also for the original end level. Unfortunately i feel that we may be among the few to have actually playerd it.

I would like to disagree with you...

Resident Evil 4 is one and BioShock is another. Those two games are some of my favorites of all time and some of my other favorites just don't need to be there... I mean, United Offensive, Heavy Rain, and Left 4 Dead are all great games, but I wouldn't call them "must plays".

For RTS, I say Company of Heroes. For me, it blows SC/WC out of the water.

You are so awesome it's not even funny... your avatar, your taste in games... Personally I prefer Dawn of War over Company of Heroes, but maybe that's just because I like to hear "SPESS MAHRINES!!!" yelled out every time I click a squad.

I throw in Metal Gear Solid 3, for the most tense sneak-em-up experience I have ever experienced, as well as a well crafted plot that dosent require you play any of the other MG games to fully understand, and the single greatest ending to any game ever.

Agreed. I'm adding God of War (series) for its pioneering contributions to the adult platform genre and Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty: World at War for their depictions of World War II.
