After the fined gentlemen "expressed" himself, the cop in kind expressed himself by taking advantage of a negligible enforce-if-you-want-to law to be used in this type of situation.
Two-way road, GUY!
I'm amazed at how many people sided initially with the fined guy. Must be because of the age-group here.
Ok, come on now. Keeping the Peace isn't all just stopping physical violence, it's also about keeping society from being disorderly and/or disrespectful to other people.cvni2oe87n said:The peace was not disturbed, the cop just saw a hand gesture. light reflected off a persons hand and hit a cops eyeball. where is the fucking crime in that situation?
Night, sleep well.michael_ab said:alright fine i admit defeat, i need sleep, i see no end to this in sight
NEW CHALLENGER!cvni2oe87n said:yes it is very late im glad i won the debate goodnight
This says more about the state of law enforcement than anything else...ElephantGuts said:The idiot deserves it for flipping off a fucking cop. Some people need to be fined $110 to learn not to do stupid things like that. He's lucky the cop wasn't a "bad cop" and didn't beat the shit out of him for it.
So it's right to blatantly disrespect someone who is only going about doing his business and then get all uppity about recieving a fine as a form of punishment? This isn't about your freedom to do or say whatever the hell you want, it's about disrespecting another person and thinking you should just get away with it. Giving someone the finger is a show of disrespect, now I can't give out fines in my shoe store but I damn well have the right to kick you out with a warning. Just as it's that police officers right to use his own discretion to punish someone for disrespecting him. There are certain rights that some people just can't exercise without expecting to pay for them. There are alot of double standards being thrown about in this thread.m_jim said:Should the guy have flipped off the cop? No, I don't think so. The cop is just some guy who was doing his job. I do believe, however, that it is the man's right to give the cop the finger, even if it is morally reprehensible. To punish someone for essentially saying "Fuck you" is abuse of power in my book.MelziGurl said:Is is really so hard though, just to show respect and be done with the whole thing. Instead of being an arsehole just for sake of being an arsehole?m_jim said:Last time I checked, it's not actually a crime to be a dumbass. Cops just like to play God, that's what this is about. I'm just glad that in America, you can't get arrested for disrespecting an officer [http://boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2009/07/harvard.html].JWAN said:Aw Id just shoot him in the leg.
Really though, the guy was stupid enough to flip off a police officer RIGHT to his (OR HER) face. And that deserves a ticket just solely on the fact that the guy is and forever will be, a dumbass.
besides Canada has to pay for its medicare SOMEHOW![]()
He disrespected a figure of authority without any reason to do so. The fine was warranted. And even so you said KILL ALL cops. Even if you think the police officer was in the wrong, he shouldn't be killed for it, and why should every other police officer in the world get killed too?cvni2oe87n said:No, that man had every right to configure his fingers any way he pleased and that cop took his money away for no reason.humpees said:Please tell me that was sarcasm...
I'm sorry, I should have been clearer.Emphraim said:As I said in the rest of my post, if the guy knew he would piss off the cop, then obviously it had an implied meaning behind it and he deserved the fine.
Actually, it is about freedom and the right of expression. The man has a right to show the cop where to go. The cop does not have a right to punish you if you have not broken a law. If you can show me a law that says that it is illegal to be rude to a police officer, we can pack this debate in. It is a police officer's job to administer the law, not to ***** slap everyone who gets on his nerves. Your shoe store metaphor is different because a business is a privately run entity, and the owner can throw you out for looking funny.MelziGurl said:So it's right to blatantly disrespect someone who is only going about doing his business and then get all uppity about recieving a fine as a form of punishment?
