I was thinking exactly this. Why isn't it classified as sexual assault and not specifically rape? It's terrible whatever term you use, but so many people are emphasising that it's rape.

The perpetrator sounds like an idiot. I wonder if he was like "he called me a fag, herpa derp, so I shoved the remote up his arse looool". This story is absurd.

And it's posts like this that remind me of why I really hate certain elements of gamer culture. We get it, it's annoying when little kids go online and start shouting obscenities -- but it's not anywhere near as annoying as when a grown man does it. I've seen kids doing it once or twice. Adults do it all the freakin' time. Also, when it involves kids, I've had good success getting them to calm down because I'm an adult, a pre-service teacher, and I know how to get kids to listen to me. Seriously, all you guys whining about screaming pre-teens are just proving that you have no idea how to handle kids, or that you are kids yourselves. It's not /that/ difficult.

Its not that its over the mic, when kids are asses all the time, then their asses all the time. Parents just don't seem to want to make them respect elders, and many, many kids won't respect their elders because parents don't want to teach that. I have seen kids push ladies who had bloody walkers, seen them steal canes from old men, seem them be, sorry to use this words, pure cunts. I've seen them try to set fires, and then just left when I came to put it out, seem them pull knives on each other, and on me, seen them be despicable bastards. Its a good lesson for a kid to learn when to not speak.

And I'm saying, as a person who works with kids on a regular basis, and is only a year or so out from completing the training needed to do it for a living, that even if the parents refuse to actually do any parenting, it's really not that hard to get a kid's respect -- especially if they're still pre-teens. Older teens are another story, but it's still doable. Gamers are just bad at it, for some reason.

honestly i'll agree, i see adults act like cunts just as much if not more than teens, but the somehow "mirr we are older so we deserve respect!" kicks in and many people are okay with it, when they are being more obnoxious or more violent than the kids they seem to despise so much.

and like you said, if you calm down and act maturely and positive towards a kid, he'll fall right in line with respect right back at you, it's quite a simple concept when you actually put forth some emotional effort.

Not that I want explicit details or anything, but using the big R word and pulling a Kancho with a video game controller are two WAY different things, and methinks this may be a headline grab. As someone previously mentioned, if this was actual f'ing sodomy with a wiimote on a 12 year old, I would think an ambulance and emergency room visit would have followed shortly.

I have a hard time believing this story. Unless they're completely over-blowing the term 'rape'.

Like, what if the guy just spanked the kid with the wii-mote? Or, a little worse, slapped the wii-mote against the kid's dick? Unless that kid had a ginormous ass, I have a hard time seeing something that shape and size rammed up in there (as they appear to be indicating), especially if the large rubber sleeve was still on it.

Secondly, if it was worse than the mere spanking, you'd think the kid would be loud enough to wake the parents. Or that the multiple other children in the room would have run to wake them up, or immediately told their own parents. Why didn't the parents know anything about it, or the kid's friends parents, until the next day when the 'individual did it again, except sober'?

Third, what was this individual doing in the home? Was he related? If so, shouldn't the parents have known how he would act drunk and/or the temperament of the individual before leaving him in custody of the kids?



Personally, I believe it's not nearly as bad as Kotoku (or whoever originally made the article) is saying, or that the authorities/press are going completely left-field with the situation to play on people's imaginations.

Although on a side note, I don't think many people will come to this thread and say the kid is awesome for being raped with a will remote.

It's good to see that the news will give 'Rapelay' more publicity as it'll no doubt get brought up if this story catches.

Now don't get me wrong, kids need to knwo that you don't mess with guys >2x your age and probably about double your size, but those guys need to learn that there are boundrys and you can only push them so far before you are legitimately an insane bastard.

having dealt with plenty of pre-teens as everyone seems to like to call them in this thread. i dont condone jamming a wii remote where it dont belong in anyway but might be nice for the little smart arses to realize that not everyone will turn a blind eye to being hassled and not everyone is on the other end off a fiber optic cable with the only contact being a keyboard and or mic and will just say mean things. some people can be really messed up or just plain aggressive and the consequences can sometimes be unjustifiably dire. i personally when i witness my 'pre-teen' little brother being a tool on the mic while playing halo or what not, i personally take his mic or the game itself away and this is what parents need to do. stuff like this happens because parents dump their kid in front of an (insert console) that is connected to the internet and just walk away and dont pay attention to what their child maybe be doing and get surprised when their little angels xbox live account gets suspended or in the most dire cases something twisted happens. children need to learn they are playing with people off all ages and even if they are wiping the floor with some forty year old not to be a total jerk about it, for all they know he may have just gotten home from a hard day at work and thought he might unwind infront off an xbox and thats the last thing they need.

i must stress this I DONT NOT CONDONE WII REMOTE RAPE OR HUNTING DOWN THE LITTLE SHITS AND BEATING THEM but hopefully this is a wake up call to pre-teen trolls and parents -.-
