well, Nearly all popular online games at the moment or M or MA15+. So assuming these people are 12 year old's and not just 15 year old's that haven't reached puberty yet, they shouldn't even be playing the games; So although i don't believe in insulting someone younger then you, I'm not going to stop it. :)

I like to imagine that all the people I'm playing with are older than me and I'm just really really good at the game.

When the kids speak up it dispells my illusion and I don't have fun anymore.
Especially when I get owned by them, and I notice they are probably somewhere between 12 and 15

I mute every fecker who uses a mic anyway.

All I hear is annoying noises, people singing and in a few cases there music.

If I hear a person say something vaguely useful (which hasn't happened yet), like "theres a guy in the blue warehouse" I wouldn't mute them 'cos it might help me and ultimately the team (if I am in one).

Bloody kids, I was on Gears 2 yesterday, and the language these kids used was unbelievable, every other word was F***, and they were just slagging off anyone for no reason, including me.
Which ended with me saying stuff about their mums, they soon shut up then. :p

I hate stupid people with mics. I don't mind a squeaky 12-year-old voice telling me that there's someone behind me or whatever.
It's how you use the mic that counts. I don't use it because I usually have music on and hardly anyone has a mic on Halo 3. I always get matches that are completely silent.

What I do mind is when people breathe loudly into the mic as if they're dying or wheezing. It gets annoying, so I mute them.

Eheheheheee....
I'm sorry. I have nothing against you, hell, I don't even know you - but this made me laugh for some reason. Please don't take it personal, it has nothing to do with you. I'm not even entirely sure why I'm laughing, possibly because it's so rare to see a truly mature gamer online.

You forgot about Germany, Iran and China. Sorry, Britain is merely 5th. ;)

If it's not "little" or I like to call them Immature acting kids online it's "Xbox Live Thugs" that I can't stand. So I use the all mighty power of the mute button but I got to admit it's funny to hear them bannter on or attack each other.

Alittle OT: I'm sorry but I gotta post this....case in point refer to the video...

What are we supposed to be discussing, sorry? That twelve-year-olds shouldn't use mics because they're giving away personal information, or that they shouldn't get upset when people abuse them in games for being twelve when they reveal that info by going on a mic?

If it's the first, it's not a problem. So long as they don't sing their address and school hours. If it's the second, people shouldn't abuse them for being twelve. By your logic, I shouldn't go on mic because I get get attention for being English, women shouldn't go on because they get abuse for their gender, and pretty-much no-one but white American's should go on the mic without complaining.
I agree. I'm English AND my voice is higher than a 9-year old girl on helium so you can't imagine the kind of abuse I get by total wankers on the internets.

I myself am 18, I play with a mic, and everyone I play with seems to realize I don't sound six years younger, so they respect me in that right. I can't stand little kids in games anyway. Why do they even have the games if they're clearly under the age requirement?
Thats overgenralistation, i've know a few 12 yrolds who were fine. however this was on WOW and not something like CS:S (where everyone with a mic is evil)

I couldn't use a mic because I'd just be swearing over and over and calling people cheaters because I'm upset, I use the word Camper like it's the f-word

If anything I'd give the mic to my girlfriend and have her talk when I'm winning, since guys being beaten by girls at an FPS is an insult usually (because men are prideful fuckwads and any guy reading this can't disagree).

I do want a mic for those time people say "That Check guy is such a beast" or when someone cursed my name as Check4 and I wanted to say "It's CheckD3" Plus when I'm playing and I'm winning I'll say out loud "That's right, curse my name, CURSE IT!" or something ^^ That's one thing I like about people with mics, when they mention you, it empowers you to keep doing better

Yes... Because everyone loves the americans. :p

I mean, theyve really beaten the brits into second place of most hated country.
I didn't mean to say that England is hated or that American gets an easy ride, but that most of the people online, from my experience, are American guys. Therefore, the majority of the pricks are also American. Those kind of pricks have nothing to insult you with, so they just shout out the first thing they can think of, so different accents, voices, and the such will be targeted. However, since most are American, they won't target their own accent. I've never once seen an American have the piss taken out of their accent, but with the name of AngloDoom I get it without opening my mouth.

That's what i get. Was just pointing out the irony a bit.

Allthough the english aren't generally a loved country for the same reason i think they're awesome.

I mean you're well capable of walking into a foreign country and going : "What do you mean you don't speak english?"

Ofc that's not all english etc etc etc.

And no, americans don't take the shit taken out of their accents usually. Which is pretty rich considering they are the ones with the accent and the brits are actually speaking they're own language...

All I ask is that you string together a coherent sentence in English and to so a a reasonable pitch and speed.

Also, don't try the cr0wed achievement in L4D 1 or 2 when we all have no health or ammo and the safehouse is right there. I don't care if you did it at your friend's house, now is not the time.

Thats funny becuase I do the opposite. I have this theory that everyone is younger than me. This allows them to have fatser reflexes than me and gives them much more free time to play due to not having a job and other life events to get in the way. This is what I tell myself when I lose anyways.

OT: Why is twelve is the magical age. Nobody ever uses 11 in these threads. I also dont use a mic generally unless with friends so I dont have to listen to idiots sing or play their radio into the mic. Custom music helps to drown out the voices coming through the tv.

Not every 12 year old is smart enough to realise that broadcasting their voice gives some indication as to their age. Personally, I wish they would all stop using microphones, as the majority of them seem to be little whiney bitches that hurt your ears.

well I am twelve years old and I have MW2 because my dad looked at it on you tube and decided that it was fine.
