Aren't you a few years late to the party? It's been quite a while since I've last seen somebody using 1337.
Although I'm not that big on multi-player anymore, so maybe I've just missed its revival.

Oh hai Mr. Computer. It's so nice to meet you. How are you? Well, aside from connected to a wall or outlet.

Wow OP, you seem to "hate" a lot of things don't you? Perhaps you should find a creative outlet outside of the internet, like maybe walking, fishing, gardening...

Oh, and I find that people who abuse/murder my native language (English) are the scum of the earth, especially if they were also raised speaking English as their language. If English is a second language to them however, than that's fine. Aside from that though, poor speakers/typists have no excuse other than stupidity.

Hating on 1337 speak? Oh hello 1998, didn't think you'd roll around again.

I dislike when people do not use proper letter case when they post or for their username. It just rubs me the wrong way when I see it. But I like "lol" because I can imagine Master Chief verbally saying it from the machinima "Master Chief Sucks at Halo". lolololololol

And before anyone points out how much of a hypocrite I am for liking it, it's satire, find the episode when the Arbiter is introduced into the series.

I can't really see the point in replacing letters with numbers to be honest. I don't really mind as much about other forms of internet shorthand though.

For example, there is no good way to really communicate laughter on the internet. In my opinion, writing "hahaha" looks just as stupid as "lol" or ":L"

How about "that was funny."

You are supposed to use it to avoid having a program react to reading the actual word. Stop complaining.

I... I don't even know what that is...
I think this is tread is unpleasing, I assume he meant trend and I have no idea why he stopped 1337 speak on the last word, too much effort to carry on?

I loathe 1337 and binary but acronyms are cool, business and medical people run off them.

I doubt many people actually lol after putting lol but it is used to convey emotion, something which is often a criticism of the internet. Like when your being sarcastic but people think your being a dick to others.

It sounds kind of sarcastic to me, and it's not exactly shorthand either.
