After reading the Kite Runner, it makes me think maybe the bully could be much worse than we imagine. Sure we only know he punched him in the back of the head, but he was actively pursuing the kid, following him off the bus. That stops being just a bully, but a real predator.

I believe that the sentence was fair. This boy had a right to stand up to his bully and the fact that he did attempt a retreat shows that he did not go out looking to stab someone but was in fact a victim. In a court of law you can't say someone is a little bit guilty and give him a light sentence. The person has either committed a crime or he has not. So I ask you was it or was it not self defense? The bully punched him once in the head and one punch is easily enough to kill a person you see it all the time in drunken brawls. I am not saying that this was a likely scenario but if there is a chance even a small one that your life is being endangered by another person. Do you not have a right to protect yourself against that person? I admit stabbing the person 11 times is a bit extreme but is one killing strike any worse than 11? because the result is the same.

I would say going all out to kill someone over bullying is a tad extreme really, but I cant speak as to what extent the bullying went to.

Stabbings not the answer, but having been bullied in the past before and dealing with it in a slightly extreme way, even I dont really look forward to the day when I have to brandish this baby at scumbags again

You know relatively recently there was a conviction in the Uk of precisely that, a British man using a cricket bat against an knife wielding kidnapper. Got several years for inflicting unspecific brain damage.

11 times, 5 times, 2 times, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK AND IT SHOULD NOT MATTER. This is premeditated murder and the kid who did it should get life - END OF.

*sigh* whatever. I never really expect much from the sheltered nerds who frequent this place anyways.
Prove it. Don't just blah blah premeditated murder blah blah like *you*, unlike the Supreme Court, local jurisdictions, and most common sense ordinances agree with you.

THEY DO NOT.

But, as you say, 'whatever', I never really expect much from blatantly ignorant people who label 'murder' both incorrectly and to back up their own biased opinion without basing it on Fact or any legal standing.

Unfortunately for you, the bullied kid got "Justice" instead of "Continued Victimization".

Also, labeling quite a few of us as 'sheltered nerds' is pretty funny. *I* was ironically enough the guy who knew what being stabbed was like, as I *have* been 4 different times.

Apparently the 'shelter' I live in is a pretty rough place. But that's them crazy 'facts' and 'evidence' which mighty lawgivers like *you* don't need, because you can just blather your opinion like it's a physical reality which cannot be argued!

The justice system can eat a dick for all I care about. It's because of the justice system women can murder their boyfriends/husbands and call it BWS and hide it behind nonsense like the Duluth model.

This is another slip up like so many others, and seriously, I couldn't 2 flying shits about your 'bad ass' lifestyle.

I also hope this Jorge kid gets hunted down and gets the absolute shit beaten out of him. What a fucking wimpy ****. If you're gonna go stab people in self defense, THEN FUCKING DO IT RIGHT! A bit of a trolley thing to say, I just can't stand teenagers and their idiotic problems.

The kid's a total criminal mastermind. It all went according to his plan. Getting beat up for months, then trying to avoid the bully multiple times on the day of the incident, all to give the bully a false sense of security and lure him in. Finally after he had lured in another 4 on 1 beating he strikes! Murdering the bully and getting away with it by calling it self defense because this pre-teen knows the ins and outs of the justice system like the back of his hand. It only took a few years of planning but it was masterfully pulled off.

Because you know, just walking over and stabbing him out of the blue would have been so much harder to murder someone.

Does this not set a precedent for just about anyone carrying around a knife, if they rightly or wrongly believe their life to be in danger?

What about the other students who got off the bus, is it now acceptable for them to carry around knives, considering they witnessed their friend being stabbed 11 times by this guy?
If you read the article, the court case CLEARLY documented the business of Jorge (Stabber) attempting to AVOID Nuno (Bully), and Nuno making it patently clear to everyone that he intended harm to Jorge; Furthermore, it also documented that the Bully/victim relationship had persisted for much time preceding the inclusion of the knife.

As for my opinion? My inner victim of bullying cheered a little, but my heart is heavy for the loss of a life.
